New reports suggest that Microsoft plans to take Xbox games everywhere, including rival platforms like PlayStation and Nintendo Switch.
New rumors suggest that Microsoft is preparing to release a number of Xbox-exclusive titles on Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch. Microsoft will reportedly release the highly rumored Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment, initially released for Xbox consoles in February 2023 and November 2022 respectively.
In addition, Sea of Thieves from Rare Limited was also one of the titles rumored to be released on multiple platforms later this year alongside Hi-Fi Rush. It was previously reported that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Gears of War, and Starfield were coming to PlayStation. However, industry leaker NateTheHate later shut down the rumor that Starfield will remain Xbox-exclusive.

Xbox Games To Become Multi-Platform
According to Tom Warren from The Verge, sources close to Microsoft claimed that the company is preparing to release a number of Xbox titles to Sony’s PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch.
Microsoft plans to expand its business because the Xbox Series X and Series S console sales are far behind Sony’s PlayStation 5. Moreover, Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer has admitted that Xbox Game Pass subscriptions have recently slowed down. Above all, Microsoft’s gaming division performed poorly in 2022, and Spencer called it a dry year because Bethesda’s Starfield was delayed till 2023.
Tom Warren mentioned in his reports that the first two games released for PlayStation 5 or possibly other consoles are Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment. In addition, Microsoft is also considering releasing other first-party Xbox titles to release on rival platforms.
Microsoft’s decision to change Xbox’s business strategy is surprising and something the company probably did not take lightly. However, this change will result in the company generating more revenue in gaming but will lose the Xbox exclusivity in the process.
Phil Spencer announced earlier in February 2024 that the company will address the future of Xbox in a business event. Later, on February 12, 2024, Microsoft announced that the company would host the business event on February 15, 2024. Phil Spencer, Xbox president Sarah Bond, and Xbox’s president of game content and studios Matt Booty will address the issues and discuss Xbox’s plan for the future on a podcast from 12 PM PT / 3 PM RT / 8 PM GMT.
