Saving progress in Trek to Yomi doesn’t involve your typical Save Game option. Here’s how you can actually save the game during your playthrough.
Trek to Yomi is the tale of a vengeful Samurai who sets out for blood for the murder of his people. As an inspiration from the classic samurai films of Japanese filmmaker Akira Kurosawa, the 3D side-scrolling samurai adventure game is experienced in black and white.

In Trek to Yomi, players get to experience the story of a samurai of the Edo period named Hiroki. The story of Hiroki’s revenge is told through seven chapters. And as a samurai game, fighting tough opponents is a given. Although the game itself isn’t too difficult, you may still die with a few strong hits.
Since the game does not feature a Save Game option in its menu, saving progress may prove to be a somewhat challenging ordeal for some. That’s because you will have to find saving hubs within the world and the said hubs are only good for single use. Here’s how you can save your game in Trek to Yomi.
Shinto Shrines
In Trek to Yomi, Shinto shrines will act as your saving hub. The shrines may be difficult to find at first glance, but they can be easily distinguished by their Torii gates. Moreover, there will be several lit candles around the shrine. Furthermore, the shrine’s door will emit a glowing light, making it easier for you to spot it within the environment.
Once you approach the shrine’s gate and interact with it, the shrine’s door will close and the candles around it will extinguish, indicating that your progress has been saved. However, as mentioned earlier, you can only save your game once using a single shrine.
You have to be careful about when to use up your save points as there is no guarantee of when the next shrine will appear. Having said that, saving your progress at a shrine also restores your full health, so it is wise to save up only when you’re running low on HP.
If you already have a good amount of HP left, you should consider exploring further before using up a save point. Moreover, in case you die during your adventures, you will have to start over from the last shrine you used to save your progress.
With that being said, you will find plenty of shrines throughout each chapter, so the lack of a Save Game option shouldn’t be too big of a problem. Trek to Yomi is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
