With that being said, the Samurai’s adventure is mostly linear, with some exploration opportunities. You’ll mostly find yourself immersed in the story, but the overall aesthetic of the environment will compel you to look around a bit more. In this guide, we’ll be discussing how long it takes to finish Trek to Yomi, how many chapters there are, and whether or not you can replay specific chapters.
Total Duration of Trek to Yomi
Trek to Yomi, at its heart, is a simple indie game focused on the story it is trying to tell. While the game does offer some exploration to find upgrades and artifacts, it still holds a strong linear storyline campaign.
That’s why it might take an average player somewhere between 4 to 6 hours to complete the game’s main storyline. However, if you are a hardened completionist, you can expect it to take roughly around 7 hours to complete Trek to Yomi.
In the 4 to 6 hours you spend playing Trek to Yomi, you will gain combat experience and unlock new moves and combos. Moreover, you will also be hunting down necessary Stamina and Health upgrades throughout all the chapters in the story along with artifacts that serve as Collectibles.
Total Number of Chapters in Trek to Yomi
Hiroki’s adventure in Trek to Yomi is divided into 7 chapters. Among these seven chapters, the first six chapters are part of the game’s main storyline. The seventh chapter, on the other hand, will unlock only after you complete the base game.
Having said that, all the chapters have almost the same duration. Players will spend around 45 minutes to an hour on each chapter. However, it is hard to keep track of which chapter you’re currently on as there are no indicators. Still, there is a way you can keep track of your progress.
Players will receive achievement trophies for completing each of the chapters. So if you want to keep track of which chapter you’re on, you can check the Achievement/Trophy section. Here are all the chapter completion trophies:
- End of Kindergarten – Earned after completing Chapter 1
- After the Storm – Earned after completing Chapter 2
- Dust and Ashes – Earned after completing Chapter 3
- Fleeting Destiny – Earned after completing Chapter 4
- Afterlife Traveler – Earned after completing Chapter 5
- Trek’s End? – Earned after completing Chapter 6
- Samurai Dies Twice – Earned after completing the game
Chapter Selection in Trek to Yomi
In most chapter-based video games, players get to replay certain chapters to obtain any collectibles that they previously missed. However, this is not applicable for Trek to Yomi as the game does not include a Chapter Select feature.
So, if you fail to collect all the upgrades and artifacts in your first, you must replay the entire game again in New Game +. That’s why, if you’re aiming for a 100% completion, you have to scour every inch of the areas you visit to make sure nothing goes uncollected.
Trek to Yomi is now available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
