Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the 13th major installment in Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed series. This assassin action-adventure game is set in 9th-century Baghdad and tells the story of a young street thief named Basim Ibn Ishaq.

Unlike the start of a typical coming-of-age story, the 17-year-old Basim’s fate changes forever when he is rescued by a Master Assassin named Roshan.

After being taken to the fortress of Alamut, which serves as the headquarters of the Assassin Brotherhood or Hidden Ones, Basim is trained to become one of the finest assassins of his time.

The story of AC Mirage is set right in the heart of the anarchy at Samarra, or the Abbasid civil war. During the height of such political instability, Basim rises from a street rat to a Master Contract Killer.

Assassins from all across history have fought against the Templar Order due to their conflicting views on rulership. However, since the game is set approximately 300 years before the events of Assassin’s Creed 1, Templars have not officially established their presence yet.

Instead, they operate from the shadows as a secret society in Baghdad. This secret society is called the Order of the Ancients, and their presence is what paves the path for the existence of the future Templars.
