There are six Portcrystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2. But, where to get all Polycrystals? Here’s how to get all of them with location.

Interested in obtaining Portcrystals in Dragon’s Dogma 2? Portcrystals act as fast travel points that let you zap around the map using Ferrystones. They’re basically teeny-tiny crystals ready to whisk you away whenever you need to travel quickly.

I know what you’re thinking: “Every town has a Portcrystal, right?” No, only the main hubs of Vernworth and Harve Village come preloaded with permanent Portcrystal fixtures. The rest are reusable crystals that you’ll need to hunt down yourself over the course of your playthrough. Let’s look at all Portcrystals’ locations in Dragon’s Dogma 2, shall we?

Here are the six portable Portcrystal locations:

Portcrystal #1 — Vernworth

The very first permanent Portcrystal you’ll likely stumble across resides right outside the building that houses the Grand Riftstone of Vermund in Vernworth. You’ll reach this capital city as part of the main quest, “Seat of The Sovereign.”

Portcrystal #2 — Harve Village

Travel west out of Vernworth, then follow the shoreline southwest, and you’ll eventually come across the quaint Harve Village. The permanent Portcrystal is located in the southwestern part of the village.

Portcrystal #3 — Sacred Arbor

You can find this portcrystal on the northern side of the Sacred Arbor elven village.

Portcrystal #4 — Seafloor Shrine

You can locate the portcrystal a bit east of the Seafloor Shrine itself.

Portcrystal #5 — Agamen Volcanic Island

You’ll need to make your way southeast along the shore path from Bakbattahl to reach this location. Access to this Portcrystal requires further progression after arriving at the island area.

Portcrystal #6 — Bakbattahl

Shockingly, there is no permanent Portcrystal in the southern capital city of Bakbattahl. However, all is not lost! You can place down your own portable Portcrystal anywhere in the area, giving you an easy fast travel point. In fact, Bakbattahl is one of the best places to set up a personal Portcrystal since you’ll be revisiting frequently.

How to Get Portable Portcrystals

A Trial of Archery

Your first portable Portcrystal can be earned by completing the “A Trial of Archery” side quest, which you can initiate by talking to an elf named Glind at Roderick’s Smithy in Vernworth.

Forested Griffin’s Nest

Head west of Vernworth and northeast of Checkpoint Rest Town to the Misty Marshes region. Deep within lies the Forested Griffin’s Nest, where you can snag another portable Portcrystal as a reward.

Feast of Deception

As a reward for finishing the main quest “Feast of Deception,” you’ll receive a portable Portcrystal from none other than Captain Brant.

The Dragonforged Stash

This shady vendor resides in the Bay Wayside Shrine, north of Bakbattahl. For 20 hard-earned Wyrmslife Crystals, he’ll sell one of his portable Portcrystals.

Microtransaction

If you really want to take the easy way out, portable Portcrystals can be purchased through microtransactions on the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, and Steam. But where’s the fun in that?

With these locations and methods at your disposal, you’ll be flying across the lands of Gransys like a true master Arisen!

Struggling to explore in Dragon’s Dogma 2? If yes, you need Ferrystones. But, how to get Ferrystones in Dragon’s Dogma 2? Let’s find out!

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to travel a lot to explore the open world in the game. I’ve traveled from Melve to Vernworth, Checkpoint Rest Town, and beyond. However, sometimes, I need to get somewhere really fast. That’s where Ferrystones come in.

Ferrystones are rare and invaluable items that allow me to travel to any activated Portcrystal instantly. In this guide, I’ll mention some ways to get your hands on Ferrystones in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Read More: How to Get Through the Gate at Rest Town in Dragon’s Dogma 2

How to Obtain Ferrystones

Let me share a few surefire methods I’ve discovered for getting my hands on those Ferrystones:

1. Shopping for Stones

You can buy Ferrystones from general merchants and sundry shops scattered throughout the major towns and villages. They will cost you 10,000 gold apiece, but trust me, they are worth every penny. I always check the shops in places like Vernworth, Bakbattahl, and Harve Village whenever I’m passing through.

Here is a list of vendor locations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 where you can purchase Ferrystones:

  • Agamen Ruins Apothecary (Agamen Ruins)
  • Chandler’s General Store (Harve Village)
  • Ibrahim’s Scrap Store (Checkpoint Rest Town)
  • Isaac’s Wares (Bakbattahl)
  • Morris’s Apothecary (Checkpoint Rest Village)
  • Philbert’s Sundries (Vernworth)
  • Volcanic Island Armory (Volcanic Island Camp)

2. Wandering Wares

You’ll often find wandering merchants on the roads between settlements. They also sell Ferrystones. So, do check them out when you find one. How can you spot a wandering merchant? Just look for NPCs who are carrying oversized backpacks.

3. Quest Rewards

Some main quests and side quests offer Ferrystones as rewards for completion. However, Ferrystones are not guaranteed rewards for every quest. It’s always worth checking the quest rewards before you go on a long journey.

Here is a list of quests that reward Ferrystones in Dragon’s Dogma 2:

  • A Veil of Gossamer Clouds (Vernworth)
  • Halls of the First Dawn (Seafloor Shrine)
  • A Game of Wits (3rd riddle)
  • The Caged Magistrate (Vernworth)
  • Trouble on the Cape (Harve Village)
  • ‘Twixt a Rock and a Hard Place (Bakbattahl)
  • Recycle the Dragon (Albuquerque)

4. Chest Hunting

From crumbling ruins to monster-infested caves, any chest could potentially contain one of these precious Ferrystones. Here is a list of all the chest locations where Ferrystones can be found in Dragon’s Dogma 2:

  • Forested Griffin’s Nest
  • Behind a bed inside Rivage Elder’s Home
  • Top of a hill near a stone statue
  • Near the Forgotten Tunnel
  • Inside ruins southwest of a Forgotten Riftstone
  • North of Arboreal Ruins
  • Atop the wall adjacent to tower south of Vernworth Palace Courtyard
  • Deep within Waterfall Cave (1F)
  • Ancient Battleground 2F, behind a locked door (requires Ancient Battleground Key)
  • Top of Vernworth Pawn Guild tower
  • Underground cave on a higher platform (requires levitating)
  • Mountain Base Cave, above a pit
  • By the Flamebearer’s Door
  • Trevo Mine (2F)
  • Northeast of Harve Village, on top of a cliff
  • Basement of northeast house in Marshland Settlement
  • Balcony reached by ladder east of Vernworth Vocation Guild
  • Small stone bridge
  • Balcony in the Common Quarter
  • Cliff outside walls west of Vernworth Hall
  • Inside house east of Rivage Cavern, beside lumber
  • Up the hill northwest of Frontier Shrine
  • Within Darkhorde Cave, behind breakable boulder

5. Slay Monsters

Some monster drop Ferrystones upon death. But, you need to know which ones. Here is a list of monsters that can drop Ferrystones in Dragon’s Dogma 2:

  • Hobgoblins (4%)
  • Coral Snake (20%)
  • Minotaur (?%)
  • Griffin (20%)
  • Goreminotaur (6.25%)
  • Phantom (20%)
  • Slime (20%)
  • Sludge (20%)
  • Golem (14.29% — 20%)
  • Medusa (9.09% — 11.11%)
  • Sphinx (25%)
  • Minotaur (6.25% — 12.5%)
  • Cyclops (4.55%)
  • Lich (16.81%)
  • Ogre (12.5%)
  • Serpent (8%)
  • Dullahan (8%)
  • Magma Scale (8%)
  • Drake (20%)

How to Use Ferrystones

Once I’ve acquired a Ferrystone, using it is straightforward: I simply open my inventory, select the Ferrystone, and choose which activated Portcrystal I want to travel to. I’m instantly sent to my destination with a brief teleportation animation, saving me a long cross-country journey. Just be warned – each Ferrystone is a single-use item, so you have to be very careful about when and where you use them.

Are you planning to create a new Arisen? Before you do that, hear me out, as height and weight matter in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

One aspect that has really caught my attention is just how much the Character Creator allows you to customize not just the looks, but the actual builds of your characters. People have already made some mind-blowing creations — iconic characters, elven Nick Furys, and overly deformed monstrosities. It begs the question — does the height and weight you give your character actually matter in terms of gameplay in Dragon’s Dogma 2?

Read More: The Ultimate Dragon’s Dogma 2 Character Creation Guide

Height Advantages and Disadvantages

The character creator in Dragon’s Dogma 2 allows you to completely adjust your Arisen’s height, offering unique advantages and drawbacks.

Height Impact:

  • Taller characters have faster jogging speed
  • Taller characters have longer weapon reach
  • Shorter characters have smaller hit boxes
  • Shorter characters can move between monster’s legs
  • Shorter characters can enter tight spaces like goblin holes
Running Speed Test

Limb Length Impact:

  • Longer arms increase weapon reach
  • Longer legs increase run speed

As you can see, there are great advantages on both sides. The faster travel speed for taller characters will be hugely beneficial when traversing the open world. Plus, taking down giant enemies will be easier with those long-reaching weapons. On the other hand, being small and nimble lets you avoid attacks and access hidden areas.

Weight and Stamina Management

But height isn’t the only factor — your overall weight and build also come into play, impacting your stamina management and carrying capacity.

Weight Impact:

  • Heavier characters have slower stamina regeneration
  • Heavier characters have reduced stamina usage
  • Heavier characters have increased inventory weight capacity
  • Heavier characters move faster in heavy armor
  • Lighter characters have faster stamina regeneration
  • Lighter characters have higher stamina usage
  • Lighter characters have reduced inventory capacity
Stamina Recovery Test

The size and build you select for your character provides specific advantages and disadvantages that impact combat, mobility, stamina management, and even exploration/environmental interaction. That’s why you must choose the right physique according to your preferred play style.

My Opinion

When you make your character, think about your play style: how you want to play, and which class you want to pick. For instance, if you like to fight close combat with a Warrior or Fighter, you want a tall and strong character. But if you want to keep a distance between you and your foes, like a Ranger or Mage, you should choose a smaller, more agile character.

In Dragon’s Dogma 2, remember that size matters – but it’s up to you to decide how it shapes your adventure.

Do you want to team up with friends in Dragon’s Dogma 2? Not exactly! Here’s an explanation of multiplayer/ co-op in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Right off the bat, it’s important to make one thing clear — Dragon’s Dogma 2 does not feature any kind of traditional multiplayer or co-op gameplay mode. Unlike many modern RPGs that have embraced online multiplayer experiences, Dragon’s Dogma 2 remains solely focused on delivering a rich, compelling single-player adventure.

So if you were hoping to team up with friends and take on the game’s challenges cooperatively in real-time, you’ll unfortunately be disappointed. However, that doesn’t mean Dragon’s Dogma 2 is a completely solitary experience, disconnected from the larger gaming community.

The Innovative Pawn System

The returning Pawn system from the first game is at the core of Dragon’s Dogma 2’s unique online integration. Pawns are AI-controlled companion characters that join your party and fight alongside your main protagonist, known as the Arisen. While not directly controlled by other human players, Pawns provide an indirect form of multiplayer connectivity.

Pawn Search Menu

Creating and Sharing Your Main Pawn

Early on, you’ll be tasked with creating your own custom Main Pawn that will be a permanent part of your adventuring party. You can fine-tune every aspect of this Pawn, from their appearance down to their voice, personality, skills, and equipment loadout.

Once created, you’ll have the option to share this Main Pawn online, allowing other Dragon’s Dogma 2 players anywhere in the world to recruit a clone of your Pawn into their own parties through special Riftstone monuments scattered throughout the world.

Recruiting Others’ Pawns

Just as you can share your Main Pawn globally, you’ll also be able to recruit Pawns created by other players to join your own party. In this way, you’ll be exploring dungeons, battling beasts, and overcoming challenges alongside a diverse array of Pawns designed and shared by Dragon’s Dogma fans from around the world.

This asymmetric form of multiplayer allows the developers to maintain their ambitious single-player vision without compromising the core experience. But it still connects you to a living, breathing community, adding flare and excitement with every new Pawn you recruit.

Pawn Knowledge Sharing

Pawns don’t just represent your connections to other players — they actively learn from them, too. As a player’s Main Pawn gets recruited into other adventuring parties, it will gain new knowledge and insights from the battles, environments, and players it encounters.

When you next summon your Pawn back to your party, you’ll find it has grown wiser, having unlocked new combat tips, environmental observations and unique bits of lore to share from its experiences in other players’ games. The Pawn system creates a living ecology where everyone’s experiences cumulatively shape the knowledge of Pawns across the whole community.

Exploring with Pawn

Gifting and Rift Crystals

The Pawn system wouldn’t be complete without player-to-player trading and rewards for sharing your Pawns. After a player dismisses your Pawn from their party, they’ll have the option to send it back with gift items as a thank-you gesture. You’ll receive these gifts the next time you rest at an inn.

Additionally, you’ll be rewarded with valuable Rift Crystals (the game’s premium currency) each time someone recruits your Pawn, with greater rewards for higher levels of use. This incentivizes creating helpful, powerful Pawns that others will want to experience in their own adventures.

Asynchronous Community

While Dragon’s Dogma 2 may not include real-time multiplayer, the Pawn system still manages to make the experience feel tangibly connected to a living community of players. You’ll frequently cross paths with the custom Pawns created by other players, each with their own appearances, personalities, and insights to share about the world around you.

As your own Main Pawn gets circulated among other players’ games and returns with new knowledge, you’ll gain fascinating glimpses into how others have tackled the same challenges you face. It’s an asynchronous multiplayer experience that enriches the feeling of being part of a larger community united around Dragon’s Dogma 2’s world and lore.

The Future of Multiplayer in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Of course, the dream for many Dragon’s Dogma fans would be the addition of full real-time co-op multiplayer to adventure alongside friends. And while the developers have given no indication of such plans, it’s not impossible that fan requests and modding efforts could facilitate more direct multiplayer options down the road.

But for now, the unique Pawn system stands as Dragon’s Dogma 2’s way to scratch that multiplayer itch while maintaining its laser-focus on a meticulously crafted single-player narrative experience. While not true multiplayer, it’s an innovative compromise that still connects all players into a living, breathing community, leaving their mark on the game’s world.

You’ll get an objective to go to Checkpoint Rest Town, and here are a few ways to get through the gate at Rest Town in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Checkpoint Rest Town is one of the most useful points of interest in Dragon’s Dogma 2. You can take a rest, talk to new NPCs, or take on new side-quests in the Rest Town. But you can’t just enter the Rest Town as you please. Instead, you’ll need a Border Entry Permit to get through the gate.

In this guide, I’ll show you how to get through the gate at Rest Town in Dragon’s Dogma 2 using different methods. You’ll learn to use a permit properly and some cheeky ways to enter the border.

Read More: How to Change Time of Day in Dragon’s Dogma 2: A Player’s Guide

Method 1: Mask Up and Gate Crash

After leaving Vernworth, Captain Brant hooked you up with a Border Entry Permit to cross into Battahl. Not so fast — that permit is only good for furry Beastren folk. If you’re a human character, you’ll need to get a mask.

Head to Ibrahim’s Scrap Store on the west side of Checkpoint Rest and get yourself a legit Beastren Mask for 8,700 gold. You can now enter the rest town gates as you please. A scrap shop mask seems like some sketchy workaround. But, that’s how to get through the gate at Rest Town in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Using permit to enter Rest Town in Dragon's Dogma 2

Method 2: Preparing for the Illicit Gate Crossing

In order to actually cross the Rest Town gate via this method, you’re not allowed to possess any of the items that you can use to get through the gate normally. There are two items that allow you to access that gate, and you want to put them in storage at the inn.

One is the Battahl Residential Card, and the other is the Border Entry Permit. You should store both of these items inside the inn, so that you don’t have them on your character, or else the achievement or trophy (I’m In) won’t unlock.

Finding the Smuggler’s Oxcart

During the afternoon, you should be able to run north of Checkpoint Rest Town, across the bridge, and you should be able to locate an oxcart that has a bit of a shelter on it.

Unfortunately, the draw distance in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is awful, so, you won’t see it from far away. You’ll have to run across the bridge to see if it spawns in. It should be there every afternoon on a schedule.

The reason I know this works is that if you go up the mountain and talk to the gate agent, he’ll let you know that oxcarts like this one specifically are allowed to pass through the gate.

The Smuggling Method

Once you’re inside the cart, just wait about 5 minutes for the cart to go up the hill, down the street, through the gate and once you are on the other side, the achievement or trophy should unlock for you.

Method 3: Use Your Enemy as Your Friend

Another harder and more complicated way to pass through the gate, by the way, is to force an enemy to come near the gate, and then guards from both sides will attack it. As they are crossing through, it should open the gate, allowing you to walk on through. And if you don’t have any of the permits or the residential card, it will also unlock the achievement or trophy (I’m In).

I’ve mentioned the three methods that you can use to enter Rest Town. Moreover, I’ve included how you can complete “I’m In” achievement.
