Last month’s Twitch viewership for Apex Legends dropped to its lowest since October 2020. Is this a warning for Apex Legends’ future?

Respawn released Apex Legends in 2019 without any prior marketing or announcement. Even so, Apex Legends was still able to draw in a ton of new players eager to break out from the classic Battle Royale experience and try something unique.

Since that time, Apex Legends’ player base has steadily increased and now exceeds 130 million players. However, Respawn is currently struggling to retain its player base due to the entrance of newer games like Overwatch 2 and Modern Warfare 2.

Apex Legends Twitch Viewership Dropped to Lowest After 2 Years

The last month has been excellent for FPS enthusiasts. Players are fully immersed in the recently released Modern Warfare 2 and Overwatch 2. However, it is also bad news for Apex Legends. Since everyone is trying out other games, Apex Legends’ player base is steadily declining.

The statistics also speak for themselves. In October 2020, Apex Legends’ average number of Twitch viewers was recorded at 35,300. Since then, the viewership has kept increasing, and the highest average number of viewers was recorded at 1,24,985 on August 2021.

However, in the last month, Apex Legends’ average number of Twitch viewers was only 44,493, which is the lowest in 2 years. On top of that, it is showing no signs of improvement.

Even pro players like ImperialHal think Respawn needs to step up with the game. Otherwise, it will get much worse. Although producers said the upcoming season would be worth the wait, only time will tell if they can keep their promise and make Apex return to its former glory.
