Preseason 2024 of League of Legends is bringing a lot of new stuff, with Item changes being a big part of that.

Riot is going completely ham on the Preseason in League of Legends. 2024 is going to be a massive overhaul for League of Legends as there are a lot of Summoner’s Rift changes.

The map changes are the first big changes, with Riot making the map more symmetrical. Also, a lot of the terrain is being changed so that lanes have more of a chance to duel and gain individual leads without a jungler’s support.

Also, Riot is adding Void Grubs and Mites along with changes to Rift Herald and Baron Nashor. All of them have newer mechanics, with Baron Nashor making other monsters like the Scuttle Crab stronger.

The last of the major changes are the ones to the item system. Mythic items have been scrapped and many items are being removed. In light of that, Riot is adding more items and also adjusting many existing ones. Here is all we know so far.

Preseason 2024 New Items

There is so much to get to as Preseason 2024 is overhauling how items work. Riot is changing items to fit the champion classes now. So, Mages, Assassins, Bruisers, Supports, etc, are all getting their different items.

So first, we will talk about all the new items coming in Preseason 2024. Here they all are with their class tags.

New Epic and Basic Items

With the introduction of new items, there are always Epic and Basic Items added. It is the same case here as we are getting a few new ones. Here they are.

New Assassin Items

Riot is adding more Assassin items to diversify the item list they have had. Now, with a bigger selection, Assassins should thrive a little more.

Hubris

You want some trophies, you got it. Riot is adding an item for Assassins that allows to collect Statues. Gain them, and get more damage. Pretty cool.

What best to name an Assassin item than Opportunity. The item gains more Lethality when you are out of combat with Champions and it lasts for a small duration to use it. More options to kill people with Assassins.

Profane Hydra

With how Assassins are flourishing with splash damage with the Hydra builds, Riot is adding a Hydra item for Assassins specifically. So, Assassins are getting a nice item that will deal some pretty nice splash damage.

  • Cost: 3400 Gold.
  • Build Path: Tiamat + The Brutalizer + 863 Gold.
  • Attack Damage: 60.
  • Lethality: 18.

  • Passive – Cleave:
    • Attacks deal 40%/20% AD (Melee/Ranged) Damage to other units within 450 units of the target hit.

Voltaic Cyclosword

Riot is coming up with an alternative to Prowler’s Claw as it is better in terms of what it does. Voltaic Cyclosword will deal more Energized damage, and deal a slow when Melee champions use it. Pretty nice, especially when this item used The Brutalizer, which was removed a long time back.

  • Cost: 2900 Gold.

  • Attack Damage: 55.

    • Slow is a Melee only.

New Enchanter Items

There’s minor adjustments to the current Enchanters items along with two items being removed but two being introduced.

Dawncore

This item is very unique given the use of it. It is the only item that will exist that will decrease Summoner Spell Cooldown. It is rare for Riot to add an item like this but it is interesting, to say the least.

  • Cost: 2700 Gold.
  • Build Path: Bandleglass Mirror + Bandleglass Mirror + 700 Gold.
  • Ability Power: 40.
  • Ability Haste: 20.
  • Mana Regeneration: 150%.

    • Gain 3% Heal and Shield Power and 5 Ability Power per 100% Base Mana Regeneration.
  • Passive – Summoner Spell Haste:
    • Gain 18 Summoner Spell Haste.

New Fighter Items

There’s a bunch of Fighter items being added as favorites like Goredrinker and Divine Sunderer are being put into the bin.

Nitro Hexaegis

This item is more of an Ultimate buffer as it decreases R cooldown and gives you some stats in the process. Pretty cool.

  • Cost: 3000 Gold.
  • Build Path: Tunneler + Noonquiver + 600 Gold.
  • Attack Damage: 55.
  • Attack Speed: 20%
  • Health: 300.

    • Gain 30 Ultimate Ability Haste.
  • Passive:
    • After casting your Ultimate, gain 35% Attack Speed and 15% Bonus Movement Speed for 7 seconds.

Sundered Sky

Sundered Sky seems like an alternative to Divine Sunderer with a better way to balanced them. The first attack of the item critically strikes the target and heals the user.

  • Cost: 3100 Gold.
  • Build Path: Tunneler + Caulfield’s Warhammer + 900 Gold.
  • Attack Damage: 55.

  • Passive – Lightshield Strike:
    • The first attack against a champion will critically strike for 150% damage and heals for 110% base AD +8% of missing health.

New Mage Items

There will be some new mage items that will serve as different archetypes to build into. There are AoE items, executes, and such. Here they are.

Caster’s Companion

If you want more multi-target burst damage as a Mage, here is the item for you. This item gains Shot Charges, and then damage abilities consume all those Charges to deal extra damage to multiple targets.

Also, if there are no nearby other targets, the primary target takes a portion of that exact damage. Here are all the stats and details.

  • Cost: 3000 gold
  • Item Recipe: Lost Chapter + Hextech Alternator + 700 gold.
  • Ability Power: 90
  • Ability Haste: 20
  • Mana: 600
  • Unique Passive – Load:
    • Gain a Shot Charge every 3 seconds, up to a maximum of 6.
  • Unique Passive – Fire:
    • Damaging abilities consume all Shot charges to deal an additional 40 (+ 8% AP) magic damage to the target and one additional nearby target per charge.
    • If there are insufficient targets in range, for each remaining Shot, repeat the damage on the primary target, dealing 35% of the damage.

Cryptbloom

As Riot added more items, they created Cryptbloom, a unique item in its own right. For mages, this is more of a defensive item that will create a healing nova that will heal the champion. You have some neat damage stats, but this one is primarily all about that Passive.

It is a very interesting concept and one that will have some good uses, especially for Burst Mages.

  • Cost: 2850 gold
  • Item Recipe: Blighting Jewel + Fiendish Codex + 850 gold.
  • Ability Power: 70.
  • Ability Haste: 15.
  • Magic Penetration: 30%.
  • Passive – Life From Death:
    • Whenever you get a takedown on an enemy champion within 3 seconds of damaging them, create a healing nova on their location that heals allies for 50 (+50% AP).
    • Cooldown: 60 seconds.

Haunting Guise

Riot is bringing back Haunting Guise as we are getting more burn damage for Mages.

  • Cost: 1300 Gold.
  • Build Path: Amplifying Tome + Ruby Crystal + 500 Gold.
  • Ability Power: 35.
  • Health: 200.
  • Passive – Madness:
    • For each second in combat with enemy champions, deal 2% bonus damage (maximum of 6%).

Malignance

  • Cost: 3000 Gold.
  • Build Path: Lost Chapter + Fiendish Codex + 900 Gold.
  • Ability Power: 80.
  • Ability Haste: 20.
  • Mana: 600.
  • Ultimate Power: Gain 15 Ability Haste for your Ultimate.
  • Ultimate Flames:
  • Whenever you damage an enemy champion with your Ultimate, burn the ground beneath them for 3 seconds, dealing 60 (+6% AP) magic damage every second and reducing their Magic Resistance by (6 – 12 [based on level]) for as long as they are on the burning ground.

Stormsurge

Riot introduces a unique Burst item more Mages where the item does a delayed damage for some execute. The item has many Passives as you need to fulfill a condition to deal that burst. So, it is all about Burst damage champion as you have to deal 35% of their Health within 3 seconds to apply Stormsurge to deal burst damage.

What’s nice is that if they die to the Stormsurge, it explodes and also gives 30 extra gold. Pretty neat if i say so myself. However, it will be a balancing issue as the item seem very strong.

  • Cost: 2900 Gold.
  • Build Path: Hextech Alternator + Aether Wisp + 950 Gold.
  • Ability Power: 90.
  • Magic Penetration: 10.
  • Movement Speed: 5%.
  • Passive – Stormraider:
    • Dealing 35% of a champion’s Maximum Health within 3 seconds applies Stormsurge to them and grants the user 25% movement speed for 2 seconds.
    • 20 second cooldown.
  • Passive – Stormsurge:
    • After 2 seconds, Stormsurge strikes the target with lightning, dealing 100 – 200 (based on level) (+ 50% AP) magic damage to them.
    • If they die to the lightning or before the lightning strikes, it detonates immediately in a large area around them and you gain 30 gold.

New Marksmen Items

Galeforce is finally gone, as Riot is introducing Terminus as another new item to the Marksmen list.

Terminus

This one is interesting as Terminus lets you alternate between Light and Dark On-Hits with various effects. How exactly that process works is unknown but it is pretty interesting for Marksman champions.

  • Cost: 3200 Gold.
  • Build Path: Recurve Bow + Last Whisper + Dagger + 750 Gold.
  • Attack Damage: 40.
  • Attack Speed: 30%.
  • Passive – Shadow:
    • Attacks apply 30 magic damage on-hit.
  • Passive – Juxtaposition:
    • Alternate between Light and Dark on-hits each attack.
    • Light attacks grant 3-5 armor and magic resist (up to 15-25) for 5 seconds.
    • Dark attacks grant 6% armor penetration and magic penetration (up to 30%) for 5 seconds.

New Support Items

Riot is reworking how Support items work alongside Quests. This will get more customizations and allow players to make choices on items. The system is becoming simpler, and more player-driven, which is always nice in my books. Here is all that Riot has revealed thus far, with the singular Support Quest item that is upgraded based on player choice.

World Atlas

This is Tier 1 of the Support items. It works similarly to the previous Quest items that require players to earn 500 gold to upgrade it. However, this time around, World Atlas will be the only Tier 1 Support item, so every Support is buying this.

What’s even more interesting is that the item will cost only 40 gold. Yes, that is not a typo. It’s a shocking change, and Riot intends to go through with this. What a fun time for Supports.

  • Cost: 40 Gold.
  • Health: 30.
  • Mana Regeneration: 25%.
  • Health Regeneration: 25%.
  • Item grants 3 gold per 10 seconds.
  • Gold Generation: Gain a charge every 18 seconds, up to 3 charges. While near an ally, consume a charge to gain via one of the following processes.
    • Damaging enemy champions or structure grant 30/28 (melee/ranged) gold.
    • Killing a minion by any means grants you 20 gold and grants your nearest ally the same amount of gold, which will be the same amount as them killing the minion.
  • Support Quest: Earning 500 Gold from this item transforms it to Runic Compass and grants you ward charges.

Runic Compass

This is the Tier 2 Support item, which is just a better version of the World Atlas. Here are all the details.

  • Cost: Upgraded from World Atlas via Support Quest.
  • Health: 100.
  • Mana Regeneration: 50%.
  • Health Regeneration: 50%.
  • Item grants 5 gold per 10 seconds.
  • Holds Wards
  • Gold Generation: Gain a charge every 18 seconds, up to 3 charges. While near an ally, consume a charge to gain via one of the following processes.
    • Damaging enemy champions or structure grant 34/32 (melee/ranged) gold.
    • Killing a minion by any means grants you 28 gold and grants your nearest ally the same amount of gold, which will be the same amount as them killing the minion.
  • Support Quest: Earning 1000 Gold from this item transforms it to Bounty of Worlds and grants you ward charges.

Bounty of Worlds

This item is the Tier 3 version and serves as a placeholder until the player upgrades the items. Once upgraded, Bounty of Worlds transforms into that item. Overall, it still has the same stats as Runic Compass, but it signals that you should upgrade your Support Item.

  • Cost: Upgraded from Runic Compass via Support Quest.
  • Health: 100.
  • Mana Regeneration: 50%.
  • Health Regeneration: 50%.
  • Item grants 5 gold per 10 seconds.
  • Holds Wards.

All Upgraded Items

There are five upgrade items for Supports that you can get to transform your Bounty of Worlds. All the items will have some of the same stats other than their special effects. Here are the shared stats first.

  • Health: 200.
  • Mana Regeneration: 75%.
  • Health Regeneration: 75%.
  • Item grants 5 gold per 10 seconds.
  • Holds Wards.

Other than those, all five upgrades have their special Passive or Actives. Here they all are.

Blood Song:

  • Passive – Spellblade:
    • After using an ability, your next attack is enhanced with an additional 75 On-Hit Physical Damage (1.5-second cooldown).
    • If the target is a champion, apply Expose Weakness, increasing the damage they take by 12%/8% (Melee/Ranged) for 6 seconds.

Celestial Opposition:

  • Passive – Blessing of the Mountain:
    • Become Blessed to reduce incoming champion damage by 40%/25% (Melee/Ranged), lingering for 2 seconds after taking damage from a champion.
    • When the reduction wears off, unleash a shockwave around you that slows nearby enemies by 50% for 1.5 seconds.
    • Effect refreshes after leaving combat for 15 seconds.

Dream Maker:

  • 3 second cooldown.

New Tank Items

A bunch of Tank Items are being removed, so Riot is bringing in some new ones. Here they all are.

Hollow Radiance

So like Thornmail, Hollow Radiance is going to deal Magic Damage per second to nearby enemies after the user takes or deals damage. The duration of the effect is refreshed when the condition is fulfilled of taking or dealing damage.

Also, killing an enemy deals a bit of splash damage around the target. Interesting addition.

  • Health: 600.
  • Magic Resistance: 40
  • Base Health Regeneration: 100%

    • Taking or dealing damage causes you to begin dealing magic damage per second to nearby enemies (increased by 25% against minions) for 3 seconds.
    • Taking or dealing damage refreshes the duration of this effect.
  • Passive – Moonburn:
    • Killing an enemy (non-ward, non-structure) deals 30 (+3.5% bonus HP) magic damage in an area around them.
