Just a week ago, EA laid off 670 employees from the company. The layoffs affected a total of 5% of the workforce at EA. And now, the layoff chain hits Respawn.
Although the news of EA’s massive layoffs appeared to be exclusive to the parent company, the studios are also being impacted. According to a recent post from alphaINTEL, the development team for Apex Legends has recently been hit by layoffs.
Last year, during the same quarter, EA laid off over 100 Apex Legends testers via Zoom call. However, it is still unclear whether EA had any direct involvement in the recent layoffs.
One of the Respawn employees affected by the layoffs said she/he was treated inhumanely during the process.
“The way I was treated was so cold and inhumane during the process today. Just tossed out like trash.”

Connor Ford, more commonly known as Hideouts, who works at Apex’s security team, tweeted his frustration over losing friends due to the sudden layoffs.
As various reports suggested, a total of 23 employees have been let go during the layoff process. The number is included in EA’s 670 total employees.
