After Knives, AWP skins are the second most expensive skins in Counter-Strike 2. Here we’ll be taking a look at the most expensive ones that exist in 2024.

In Counter-Strike 2, the prices of skins can range from a few cents to several thousands of dollars. The AWP is no exception to these as, after the main two rifles, the AWP is the next most used weapon in the game. The AWP is a highly cherished weapon by the community and that is why AWP skins tend to cost more than all pistol, SMG, and even rifle skins. (The only exception is the Contraband StatTrak M4A4 Howl).

A skin’s price is based on a variety of factors like Skin Wear (Float), what case it is from, is the skin is still attainable in the game or not, StatTrak or not, whether it is of a unique pattern, or whether it has a unique sticker. But to keep things simple, we will not be taking into account the last 3 factors. You can see a list of The Most Expensive CS2 Skins where we make a list of the world’s most expensive CS2 items, taking the unique floats, patterns, and stickers into account.

Most Expensive AWP Skins in CS2

The skins here will be ranked by the price of the highest-valued versions of these skins. The main platform for finding price listings is Steam Market. However, prices in the Steam Market fluctuate quite often. Moreover, there is a cap of 1800 USD for a single listing, whereas some skins in this list are worth more than that. Considering these factors, the prices will be taken into account from the third-party website buff163.

So, without further ado, here are the top 10 most expensive AWP skins in CS2 right now.

10. StatTrak AWP | Containment Breach

Price for StatTrak Field-Tested$134.95
Price for StatTrak Well-Worn$99.86
Price for StatTrak Battle-Scarred$73.60

Starting off the top 10 we have the AWP | Containment Breach, which was added during Operation Shattered Web. The StatTrak FN version cost the higher costs exceptionally higher than all the other qualities. However, the normal FN version is $306, almost half.

9. StatTrak AWP | Lightning Strike

Price for StatTrak Factory New$745.02
Price for StatTrak Minimal Wear$696.35
Price for StatTrak Field-TestedN/A
Price for StatTrak Well-WornN/A
Price for StatTrak Battle-ScarredN/A

The AWP | Lightning strike was added to the game with the first-ever CS:GO Weapon case, and the case itself costs $91 on the Steam market. This gun exists up to MW, and the FN version costs $745 on buff. The MW version is surprisingly rarer and thus costs more so we will recommend getting the FN version. However, the StatTrak Factory New version is valued the most.

8. StatTrak AWP | Oni Taiji

TitleDescription
Available inOperation Hydra Case
Price for StatTrak Factory New$810.41
Price for StatTrak Minimal Wear$536.19
Price for StatTrak Field-Tested$367.67
Price for StatTrak Well-Worn$334.25
Price for StatTrak Battle-Scarred$541.48

The AWP | Oni-Taji was added with the Operation Hydra case, and the FN version costs about $424. However, the highest valued version will be the StatTrak Factory New which costs almost double the normal FN version. This skin does start to get scratched from FT but if you manage to get a low-float FT, this will definitely be the back for your buck.

7. AWP | Fade

Available inThe Control Collection
Price for Factory New$1,000.59
Price for Minimal Wear$944.25
Price for Field-TestedN/A
Price for Well-WornN/A
Price for Battle-ScarredN/A

Another drop-only skin added to the game with Operation Broken Fang update is the AWP | Fade. This skin exists only up to MW, and the FN version costs $1,000. The MW version is rarer, however.

6.Souvenir AWP | Desert Hydra

TitleDescription
Available inThe 2021 Mirage Collection
Price for Souvenir Factory New$3,091.72
Price for Souvenir Minimal Wear$1,766.85
Price for Souvenir Field-Tested$1,378.77
Price for Souvenir Well-Worn$1,169.87
Price for SouvenirBattle-Scarred$1,086.31

AWP | Desert Hydra is one of the newly added AWP skins in CS2. This AWP skin was added with the Operation Riptide update in 2021. Most of the skins in this list are older than Desert Hydra. However, this amazing-looking skin didn’t take any time to climb up the place to take a spot on the expensive list. The normal FN version is available for $2,272. But the most valued version is the Souvenir Factory New, which costs $3,091.

5. AWP | The Prince

Credit-VALVE
TitleDescription
Available inThe Canals Collection
Price for Factory New$3,412.12
Price for Minimal Wear$2,534.71
Price for Field-Tested$2,179.58
Price for Well-Worn$2,123.80
Price for Battle-Scarred$1,995.74

The AWP | The Prince skin isn’t even available in the Steam market, and you have to purchase this skin through third-party sites. The prices used in this article are from trustworthy sites, so you can purchase skins from there without worry.

The FN version of this skin costs $3,412. Thankfully, it is a “Brightness skin,” meaning the texture only gets slightly darker with increasing float and doesn’t get scratched up. This is why a BS one for $1,995 is still the best value choice.

4. AWP | Medusa

Credit-VALVE
TitleDescription
Available inThe Gods and Monsters Collection
Price for Factory New$5,276.66
Price for Minimal Wear$2,523.57
Price for Field-Tested$2,002.70
Price for Well-Worn$1,641.65
Price for Battle-Scarred$1,734.19

The legendary AWP | Medusa has been the 2nd most expensive skin most of its lifetime and has only recently been pushed to a lower place. But that still doesn’t mean it’s cheap with the price of the FN version coming at around $5276. Thankfully, it is another “Brightness Skin,” and if you want to own a decent one for as cheap as possible, you can get the WW version for $1641.

3. AWP | Dragon Lore

Credit-VALVE
TitleDescription
Available inThe Cobblestone Collection
Price for Factory New$10,568.78
Price for Minimal Wear$8,021.95
Price for Field-Tested$5,689.11
Price for Well-Worn$5,013.72
Price for Battle-Scarred$3,659.32

The AWP | Dragon Lore. The crown jewel of all the AWP skins. This has been the most expensive skin for 7 years since its release, and the stickered/souvenir variant prices go up to 6 digits.

The FN version of this skin costs $10,568, making it one of the most expensive regular skins in the game. The base version of the skin is available through very expensive trade-up contracts and the souvenir version is available from opening Cobblestone drops.

This skin tends to get scratched pretty easily with more wear, so if you want to own a nice-looking one, we recommend going for the MW for at least just over $8000.

2. AWP | Gungnir

Credit-VALVE
TitleDescription
Available inThe Norse Collection
Price for Factory New$10,612.17
Price for Minimal Wear$9,358.94
Price for Field-Tested$7,364.53
Price for Well-Worn$6,322.16
Price for Battle-Scarred$5,918.49

The AWP | Gungnir is one of the recent additions to the game, which quickly rose to the top as one of the highest-tier skins in the game. If you have $10000 burning a hole in your pocket, you can go and get yourself a sweet FN Gungnir. Thankfully, it is yet another “Brightness Skin”, you can snag this bad boy up for $5918 for the BS version.

1. Souvenir AWP | Dragon Lore

Credit-VALVE
TitleDescription
Available inThe Cobblestone Collection
Price for Souvenir Factory New$473,517.86
Price for Souvenir Minimal Wear$236,759.00
Price for Souvenir Field-Tested$43,173.56
Price for Souvenir Well-WornN/A
Price for Souvenir Battle-Scarred$38,299.25

If you were wondering what the absolute most expensive AWP skin in CS2 right now was that you could get directly, it is the Souvenir AWP | Dragon Lore FN. This skin can only be obtained from Souvenir Cobblestone Drops, which cost $800-1000. The skin is assorted with gold foil stickers from the tournament they dropped from, and the match represents the tournament, teams, and a highlight player.

You can get yourself a Souvenir FN version for more than $400000. We won’t be including any recommendations for this skin as the prices and values heavily rely on what stickers you get on this drop and their positions. If you get a skin with an AWPers signature on the scope, you can safely go to your local dealership to pick out a nice new car because those skins are worth over a hundred thousand dollars.

Final Verdict

So, we conclude the list of the top 10 most expensive AWP skins in CS2. Note that prices are subject to change. Also, being more expensive does not mean better. The rarest pattern of AK-47 Case hardened got sold for $400,000, making it one of the biggest skin trades in CS:GO’s ten-year history.

Valve recently announced Counter-Strike 2. With the announcement, the developers have also confirmed that the skins owned in CS:GO will remain in Counter-Strike 2. Moreover, with the Source 2 visual update, the skins look better than ever.

Following the announcement, the price of the CS:GO skins also started to skyrocket in recent days. More and more skins, cases, and stickers are being traded regularly on the Steam market.

However, some trades are also being made outside the Steam market as they remain some of the expensive skins in the game. Similarly, a trader named ZipeL just completed the second-largest trade in CS history. ZipeL sold an AK-47 Case Hardened and Karambit Case Hardened skins for $500,000 in total.

AK-47 and Karambit Case Hardened Skins for $500,000?

If you’re familiar with the CS:GO skins, you already know that some CS:GO skins have specific and unique patterns. Even within those patterns, some are ultra-rare skins that only exist in a limited quantity in the whole world.

So naturally, these skins are very expensive, and only very few people own them as souvenirs in their collection. The two skins mentioned are AK-47 Case Hardened ST MW (661 pattern) and Karambit Case Hardened (#387 P1 pattern.)

Both skins are the rarest in the Case Hardened category and have the most blue coloring among all the Case Hardened skins. On top of that, the AK-47 skin has 4x Titan | Katowice 2014 (Holo) stickers. Each of these stickers costs well above $60,000

ZipeL worked as a middleman to complete the trade on behalf of Luksusbums, the previous owner of these rare Case Hardened skins. However, there is no official information regarding the buyer except for the fact that the buyer is a Chinese collector.

Recent leaks from a reputed data miner revealed that CS:GO Source 2 might not feature the highly-anticipated 128 tick rate servers.

CS:GO Source 2 is a highly anticipated update that the Counter-Strike community has been waiting for ages. Like many other features, such as fluid movement and better visuals, the community expects 128 tick servers from the latest update.

CS:GO’s rival game VALORANT also implements 128 tick rate servers within their matchmaking system, making the gameplay more fluid than official Valve CS:GO servers offering only up to 64 tick rates.

Although playing on 128-tick servers through a third-party platform such as FACEIT or community servers is possible, playing on official servers is much more convenient. So, it is something that players want Valve to release alongside Source 2.

CS:GO Source 2 Might Introduce a Variable Tick Rate System

Gabe Follower, a popular data miner in the Counter-Strike community, found new information related to the potential CS:GO Source 2 update. According to the leaker, CS:GO Source 2 might not introduce the traditional 128 tick rate servers found in FACEIT or VALORANT.

Instead, the new update will allegedly introduce a new “Tickless/ Subtick System,” which appears to be a variable tick rate system. Meaning the server might not always operate at the maximum tick rate. Instead, the server will only operate at a 128-tick rate when player movement or action is detected.

However, Richard Lewis’s article mentioned that Counter Strike 2 will have 128 tick rate servers, and “this feature would likely be ready at the launch of the beta.” So, it is still unclear how Valve is planning to implement the new tick rate system in CS:GO Source 2. Nonetheless, without experiencing the game firsthand, it can’t be said for certain how good the “Tickless/ Subtick System” will be.

Further information on CS:GO Source 2 has been revealed by a popular data miner and leaker. The game looks to be ready to go live at any moment.

Despite the new engine’s availability, CS:GO had been running on the same old Source engine since 2012, whereas Dota integrated Source 2 upon its release. As a result, CS:GO Source 2 has been a highly-anticipated update to the Counter-Strike community for a long time.

However, the long-awaited waiting is most likely ending with all the leaks and rumors coming out from the dark and giving players a new glimmer of light. Only a few days back, we got some crucial information about Counter-Strike 2’s potential launch, and now, more leaks are overflowing the CS community.

CS:GO 2 Beta Might be Only a Few Weeks Away!

The CS:GO Source 2 leaks started appearing in early July 2022. However, no factual evidence was there to prove it was related to an upcoming CS:GO 2 operations. Nonetheless, a recent article from Richard Lewis set the Counter-Strike community in detective mode.

Moreover, Gabe Follower, a leaker in the CS community, has continuously been sharing Source 2-related leaks, leading everyone to believe CS:GO Source 2 is just weeks away and is ready to go live.

Apparently, Gaben Follower found some code lines from the latest Dota 2 update. But what do these codes mean?

According to Bubfusion‘s comment in the thread, “These are lines from Dota 2 files. Dota 2 is built on the source 2 engine. That means any reference to CSGO within Dota files references the S2 port. There are a lot of them in the newest D2 update which are leaks. We can see some features that are referenced. Means S2 port soon.”

So, are we really getting Counter Strike 2 or CS:GO 2 with the latest Source engine? It seems more likely than ever. Regardless, it is too soon to confirm anything without an official announcement from Valve. Until then, one can only speculate.

The hopium of the Counter Strike community might be real, as recent insights from a reliable source shed light on Counter Strike 2 being released soon.

Since CS: GO‘s release, the game has gone through multiple updates making the game a little better than the previous version. However, the fundamentals of the game and the Source engine remained the same, despite of Source 2 engine’s availability.

Since then, the Counter Strike community has been waiting for the Source 2 engine to be implemented into the game. There were countless instances where it seemed like Source 2 would release very soon, but it never happened.

The hopium for the release of Source 2 has grown to the point that it has become a “meme” anytime there is news or optimism in this regard. Nonetheless, there have been multiple occasions since late 2022 when data miners and leakers have discovered valuable information concerning secret Counter Strike operations that are currently being worked on, giving players new hope. And, this time, it might be for real!

Counter Strike 2 is “About Ready to Go”

Early in July 2022, data miners discovered that certain maps were being tested on the game using the “S2” code, which stands for Source 2. This discovery set off the major hopium train. Also, CS: GO developers were seen testing those servers within the game.

Many thought that the 10-year anniversary of CS:GO would see the debut of Counter Strike 2. However, that never happened, and things went quiet for some time. And just recently, the hype was once again brought back to life in the community when Valve changed its official CS:GO Twitter banner to only “Counter Strike.”

Nonetheless, Valve played around with the banner similarly in late 2022. Although it had no deep meaning, many noticed this simple change. After that, on March 1, Gabe Follower, a popular leaker in CS:GO community, shared some insights related to the newest NVIDIA driver support for two new executables, “csgos2.exe” and “cs2.exe”

Even if we remove all the rumors, leaks, and speculations from the equations, the news shared by Richard Lewis, a reputable eSports journalist in the community, may convince us that Counter Strike 2 is actually happening.

Richard got some crucial information related to Counter Strike 2 from anonymous sources that have direct link to the game’s development,

“Indeed there was a new version of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive on its way and that had been worked on for some time. The new version is almost certainly set to be released under the working title Counter-Strike 2 and the tentative release date for the beta is in this month of March with April 1st at the outside.”

According to Richard Lewis, the sources confirmed that Counter Strike 2 would be on Source 2 engine, and the servers would be 128 tick similar to FACEIT and VALORANT. The sources also mentioned that the game is “about ready to go,” and has already been tested by some professional players that were flown out in secret to Valve’s headquarters in Seattle.

CSGO just celebrated its 10th anniversary, and over the years, the competitive map popularity has changed quite a bit. Let’s take a look at the current most popular maps in matchmaking.

In CSGO’s competitive mode, popularly known as Matchmaking, players can select which maps they queue for. This allows them to pick a map or from a small selection of maps they are interested in playing. This nifty feature helps immensely as you only play the maps you want, although it can lead to higher queue times for unpopular maps at off-peak hours.

Most Popular CSGO Maps in Matchmaking

Due to this feature in play, some maps are much more popular than others. Data collected from this gives us a statistical representation of the most popular to least popular maps in CSGO matchmaking. Let’s take a look.

Image via r/GlobalOffensive
Image via r/GlobalOffensive

When you ask anyone familiar with CSGO what they think is the most popular map they think is, almost all of them will answer Dust-2. Although this may be true in the past, dust 2 currently sits in 3rd position by a small margin.

The most popular map in CSGO matchmaking at 29.6% of matches played is Mirage. This means almost 1/3rd of all competitive games in the first half of 2022 was played in Mirage!

Coming in at 2nd place is Inferno with 20.7%, just beating Dust-2, which is at 20.5%. This means 2/5ths of all CSGO competitive matches are played in these 2 maps. Just these 3 maps combined account for around 70% of all matches played in CSGO Matchmaking.

In order, the other maps are Nuke, Overpass, Cache, Vertigo, Ancient, and Train. According to Valve’s previous actions, we might see the less popular maps taken out of active duty and replaced with another map in rotation.

Renowned CSGO skin trading website CS MONEY has been the victim of a massive hack and it turns out these bad actors stole $6 Million worth of skins.

Valve’s infamous Arms Deal update for CSGO on August 14, 2013, introduced the world to weapon skins. This tactical shooter has never been the same since skin trading has become a massive part of the whole CSGO experience.

Some of these exclusive skin collections can be sold for Million of dollars on third-party sites. Unsurprisingly, hackers also got involved in this trading process due to the massive demand for these skins. Even recently, one CSGO inventory containing $2,000,000+ in skins was allegedly hacked.

Now, a popular skin trading site CS.MONEY has also followed the same path as it was also hacked by bad actors. Apparently, these hackers got access to the trading bots that the website was using to trade expensive CSGO skins.

Source 2 is a highly anticipated update for every CounterStrike fan out there. With more leaks and rumors surfacing over the internet, it seems like the wait for Source 2 may finally be coming to an end.

Counter Strike first originated from a mod for Half Life. Later, Valve acquired the mod and officially released Counter Strike as a full-fledged FPS game in 2000. Since then, the game went through major updates along with some engine modifications.

Counter Strike revolutionized when CS source came along. Valve shifted the game totally on a different engine, keeping the game’s main features untouched. After that, throughout the years, CS has made quite a name for itself with different titles.

However, the biggest change occurred when Valve announced Counter Strike: Global Offensive in 2012. The game broke the internet. People all around the world, especially CS fans, loved the game, and it became the most notorious FPS game in the history of CS.

Since CS: GO‘s release, the game went through multiple updates making the game a little better than the previous version. However, the fundamentals of the game and the Source engine remained the same, even after Valve released an updated Source 2 engine in 2015.

When Will Source 2 Arrive in CS: GO?

As mentioned earlier, Valve launched Source 2 in 2015. Along with its release, Dota 2, another highly popular game was launched. Watching their takeoff side by side, people got excited and expected CS to receive a similar treatment.

However, the update never came through. CS: GO is still running in the same Source engine. In 2017, Valve was close to releasing the Source 2 engine in CS: GO, but they released only Panorama UI instead of shifting the whole engine.

Recently, there have been some leaks and rumors about a Source 2 engine being worked on Counter Strike. And, it seems like the engine shift may actually go through this time. It mainly started when a clip from WarOwl, a very well-known content creator, surfaced on the internet.

In one of WarOwl’s streams, he said, “I want the source update. I’m honestly waiting for the source update, umm.. in August.” Immediately after that, WarOwl said, “oh, I shouldn’t have said that.” It indicates that WarOwl might have had insider info about Source 2’s release.

Apart from WarOwl’s clip, other leaks were pointing towards the release of Source 2 pretty soon. Apparently, data miners have found that some maps are being tried on the game with “S2” code, which means source 2. Also, CS: GO developers were seen testing those servers within the game.

Counter Strike Source 2 Release Date

CS: GO will turn 10 years in August 2022. With all these leaks and rumors, there is a high possibility that Valve may release a new Counter Strike in the Source 2 engine in August 2022. Even if it does not release in August 2022, it is safe to assume that the launch of Source 2 has never been closer.

With VALORANT being a tough competition, Valve may just come with a surprise release of Source 2 very soon. However, this is just a leak, so take it with a grain of salt.

The most expensive CS: GO inventory has allegedly been hacked, and rumor says the account was worth more than 2 million USD.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive introduced skins with the Arms Deal update on August 14, 2013. It was one of the first games to adapt to in-game cosmetic items. Like other games, the CS: GO skins also do not provide any extra functionality and are used only for cosmetic purposes.

Though CS: GO skins do not provide in-game value, they surely cost real money. Players can get these skins by opening containers, trade-up contracts, or from random drops. Some skins cost more than others mainly because of their looks and rarity.

Many people like to collect and stack these skins in their inventory. There’s a whole dedicated community of skin collectors who find the rarest CS: GO skins and other items that most people can only dream of having.

The CS: GO skins are exchangeable via personal trade or steam market. As they are not permanently attached to your account, they are vulnerable to hacking or scams. Even though the accounts are strictly protected via VALVE’s security system, it seems like it wasn’t enough for the number 1 CS: GO skin collector to lose $2+ million USD worth of skins.

$2,000,000+ Worth of Skins Has Been Hacked and Stolen

HFB, a player from UAE, owned the most expensive CS: GO inventory of all time. He was the number 1 collector of the rarest CS: GO skins the community has ever seen. He mostly stayed private his entire time and never showcased it publicly.

Even after this, it seems like his account was not immune to evil eyes. Because recently, HFB’s account got compromised by hackers, and all his skins and items worth millions of dollars were traded and sold.

His account had some of the highest valued skins, such as Souvenir Dragon Lores, No-star Karambit, #1 Blue Gems, and more. The total value of the inventory was more than $2 million USD. It is painful even to imagine such misfortune as CS: GO fans. Hopefully, VALVE gets to look into this issue carefully, and it all gets sorted out.
