Format Explained

The tournament will consist of two phases: a group phase and a double elimination bracket structure to decide the winner. In the group stage, the 40 teams will be split up into 4 groups, each with 10 teams. In a six-match series, each group will compete against the other three groups to advance into the bracket stage.

After the group stage finishes, the top 20 teams with most points will advance to the winners bracket, and the bottom 20 teams will duke it out against each other in the losers bracket round 1.

After that, the top 10 teams from the winners bracket will directly go to the grand finals and the bottom 10 from the winners bracket will go to the losers bracket round 2, where they’ll face off against the top 10 teams of the losers bracket round 1.

The top 10 teams from the losers bracket round 2 also reach the grand finals. The bottom 10+10 teams from losers bracket round 1 and 2 will be eliminated from the Playoffs.

Now, what happens in the grand finals? The grand finals will be played out in a match point format. A team becomes match point eligible when it reaches 50 points. If the match point eligible team wins the next match, they’ll be crowned as the winner. Every other position apart from the winner will be determined by total points (highest to lowest.)

Do you want to know how you stack up against the rest of the players in the Apex Legends rank distribution of Season 21? If so, you’re in the right place.

Apex Legends introduced the rank system in Season 2: Battlecharge on July 2, 2019. Respawn named it the Ranked Leagues. At that time, the rank mode was only available for the Battle Royale playlist.

Since the rank system’s introduction, Respawn has made several changes to it throughout Apex’s lifespan. Additionally, millions of new players who now play ranked mode regularly joined the game later. So Respawn introduced additional ranks to maintain the game’s competitive integrity.

On top of that, Apex Legends also introduced Ranked Arenas on August 3, 2021. However, that was shut down due to its low popularity. So, in this article, we’ll solely focus on the BR rank distribution in Apex Legends Season 21.

Season 21 Rank Distribution

Respawn usually publishes rank data at the end of each season. So, there is no way of gathering Respawn’s data on Battle Royale Ranked Leagues before a season ends. However, Apexlegendsstatus, a third-party website, shares ranked data based on the 2.2 million active ranked players’ API databases.

Here is the graph for Apex Legends rank distribution in July 2024:

We updated the data on July 1, 2024.”

Although 2.2 million players do not represent the total Apex Legends population in ranked leagues, it is a huge sample size. So, the data from Apexlegendsstatus is the most reliable and accurate right now. Also, the website excludes players who were unranked at the time of data generation.

Moreover, keep in mind that not everyone plays Ranked every season. This Ranked distribution only accounts for the active Ranked players in an ongoing season. As a result, the Ranked population will always vary.

Overall Distribution

  • Rookie – 33.94%
  • Bronze – 18.50%
  • Silver – 20.01%
  • Gold – 17.60%
  • Platinum – 9.43%
  • Diamond – 0.84%
  • Master – 0.02%
  • Predator – 0.04%

There you go! Now you know which portion of players in the Apex Legends rank distribution you belong to. Additionally, as was already mentioned, this data is not directly from Respawn. Therefore, it shouldn’t be regarded as 100% accurate. Nevertheless, this article will give you a decent understanding of the rank distribution in Apex Legends Season 21.

Prestige skins are the highest-tier legend skins you can purchase in the game. However, not all of them are equally desirable.

Prestige skin appeared for the first time in Apex Legends during the 3rd anniversary event in Season 12. Since then, Respawn has introduced a total of 8 Prestige skins to the game. Prestige skins, like Heirlooms, are extremely expensive and can only be purchased using Heirloom shards or through collection events using Apex coins. Although all Prestige skins are amazing, some are regarded as preferable compared to others due to their unique designs, features, and appearances. Having this in mind, we will rank every Prestige skin in the game from best to worst.

To keep the list fair, we are not considering the skydive trails while ranking, as most of the Prestige skins don’t have one. However, other features like the design of the skins, animations, and finishers will be considered. So, without any further ado, let’s get into the ranking.

1. Apex Contagion [Caustic]

Apex Contagion
credit: EA
  • Release Date: April 25, 2023
  • Season: 16
  • Event: Veiled Collection Event

Unlike most Prestige skin releases, every tier in Apex Contagion offers extraordinary details. The combination of green and black, alongside the design of the bodysuit and headgear, perfectly complements Caustic’s toxic personality. Every other Prestige skin is incomplete in some way. However, this is not the case with Apex Contagion. Everything about Apex Contagion is perfect. As a result, we believe that Caustic Prestige is by far the best one Respawn released in the game.

2. Apex Voidshifter [Wraith]

Apex Voidshifter
credit: EA
  • Release Date: December 6, 2022
  • Season: 15
  • Event: Wintertide Collection Event

We might’ve crowned Apex Voidshifter as the best Prestige skin if Wraith had a better tier 3 skin. Despite having a stunning hairstyle, the tier 3 skin, especially the helmet, doesn’t go with Wraith’s concept at all. Other than that, there is no complaint about Apex Voidshifter. The transition between the tier 1 and tier 2 skins, according to us, is by far the best. Moreover, the animated cape featuring a starry night sky is a great attention to detail that you won’t find in any other Prestige skin. The deep glowing eyes and the hairstyle make Wraith such a badass ninja who came from the future of the Apex universe.

3. Apex Nightmare [Revenant]

Apex Nightmare
credit: EA
  • Release Date: October 17, 2023
  • Season: 18
  • Event: Doppelgangers Collection Event

As Revenant already has so many great skins, it was a very hard decision to rank Apex Nightmare higher than this. However, ranking it lower won’t also do Apex Nightmare any justice. At first glance, Apex Nightmare doesn’t look much, and every upgrade looks kind of the same. However, upon closer inspection, you can see the meticulous detail in every part of Revenant’s simulacrum body in every tier.

4. Apex Lycanthrope [Loba]

Apex Lycanthrope
credit: Ea
  • Release Date: December 5, 2023
  • Season: 19
  • Event: Uprising Collection Event

Apex Lycanthrope’s tier transition is one of our favorites. The tier 1 skin starts with a basic red and black-themed skin. In the next one, Loba receives a half-lycan helmet with a white and red suit. In the final tier, Loba’s suit turns white with a full futuristic Lycan helmet that makes her look like a boss character from a Power Ranger series. Although it isn’t the swimsuit everyone wants to see, it is still nice.

5. Apex Interceptor [Valkyrie]

Apex Interceptor
credit: Ea
  • Release Date: July 25, 2023
  • Season: 17
  • Event: Neon Network Collection Event

Apex Interceptor may be the most purchased Prestige skin in the game. Whenever you enter a BR match, you’ll find at least one person jumping with the special yellow dive trail. Despite being sold most, the Apex Interceptor skin does not really offer much. Apart from the unique helmet, all three tiers look almost the same, which is kind of a letdown. In any case, the tier 3 version of the Prestige is really sick and one of our personal favorites.

6. Apex Riptide [Octane]

Apex Riptide
credit: Ea
  • Release Date: April 23, 2024
  • Season: 21
  • Event: Urban Assault Collection Event

To be honest, the tier 1 skin in Apex Riptide looks better than the tier 2 and 3 upgrades. The skins, in general, are well-designed. But we think they lack personality. Octane has always been an adrenaline junkie, and all of his skins are related to speed. However, Apex Riptide fails to establish that. The only reason why we are putting it before Bloohound’s Prestige skin is because of the finisher, which may arguably be the best Prestige skin finisher in the game.

7. Apex Hunter [Bloodhound]

Apex Hunter
credit: EA
  • Release Date: February 15, 2022
  • Season: 12
  • Event: 3rd Anniversary Collection Event

When Respawn first introduced Apex Hunter Prestige, the community went crazy. Besides Loba’s Prestige, Apex Hunter is the only one that offers a cool color transition from tier 1 to 3. However, that’s really it. Despite having a cool tier 3 upgrade, the first two tiers of the skins look pretty ordinary, even compared to some of the average-looking Legendary Bloodhound skins.

8. Apex Commander [Bangalore]

Apex Commander
credit: Ea
  • Release Date: July 19, 2022
  • Season: 13
  • Event: Gaiden Thematic Event

If we consider the premium price we must pay to obtain a Prestige skin, the Apex Commander does not justify it. Unlike other Prestige skins, it failed to entice players. You can compare the new Prestige skins with Bangalore’s and judge for yourself why this is the case. As a result, you won’t find many players running with this skin-equipped. However, it was Apex’s second Prestige skin, so we should cut some slack.

So, this concludes our ranking of all the Prestige skins released in Apex Legends. Keep in mind that this ranking is subjective and mostly based on our views of the skins and the community’s feedback.

The Shadow Society Collection Event introduces the universal Cobalt Katar heirloom, 36 unique cosmetic items, and a brand new LTM named Lockdown.

Due to the huge success of the Final Fantasy event, the developers made the decision to carry on the pattern of releasing universal heirlooms in Apex Legends. So, here we are with the new Shadow Society Collection Event.

Similar to the Final Fantasy crossover, the Shadow Society event features 36 cosmetic items. The ultimate reward, which is the Cobalt Katar melee, is a universal heirloom. Apart from these two changes, everything else remains almost the same as the previous Collection Events. Here’s a glimpse of everything coming with the Shadow Society event on March 26, 2024.

Lockdown LTM

You have to stick together with your team and protect your turf in Lockdown, the first-ever four-squad free-for-all fight for control. You and your teammates will start off with regular TDM gear and aim to find capture zones scattered across small, chaotic maps like Thunderdome, Skulltown, Zeus Station, and Monument.

Your mission? Score points by grabbing those zones, keeping them safe, and knocking out rival players. Hit 500 points first, and you’ll claim victory. So, round up your squad, get ready for the showdown, and let’s dominate Lockdown!

New Universal Heirloom: Cobalt Katar

New Universal Heirloom Cobalt Katar

Since universal heirlooms will be released on a regular basis, Respawn decided to give them a name. According to Respawn, this mythic tier melee is classified as “Apex Artifacts.” Like the Buster Sword, any Legend in the game can equip Apex Artifacts. The same goes for Cobalt Katar. You can use it with any Legend once you unlock it.

36 Cosmetic Items

Unlike most Collection Events, the Shadow Society will feature 36 collectible items instead of 24. To get the Cobalt Katar Artifact, you have to unlock all 36 cosmetic items from the event. Here are some of the Legendary items from Shadow Society.

You can also get Milestone Rewards for unlocking 5, 10, 20, and 36 items.

  • For unlocking 5 items, you receive the “Coin Purse Weapon Charm.”
  • For unlocking 10 items, you receive the “Make it Rain Holospray.”
  • For unlocking 20 items, you receive the “Clean the Pipes Emote.”
  • For unlocking all 36 items, you receive the “Tax Collector Deathbox.”

Free Rewards

Like always, there are always free rewards for completing specific challenges during the event. For the Shadow Society event, you have to earn reputation by completing daily tasks. After that, you can use these reputation points to unlock rewards of your choice from the Reward Shop. The rewards will rotate every week.

Apex Legends is arguably the best Battle Royale title currently available. Let’s find out how many people still play Apex Legends.

Apex Legends was published in 2019 as a battle royale spin-off of Respawn’s successful FPS game Titanfall, and it quickly established itself as the greatest battle royale game in the BR genre. Because the game was free to play, it attracted a large number of players in a short amount of time.

Since its release, Respawn has brought a ton of new content into Apex Legends every season, including Legends, Maps, Weapons, Heirlooms, Skins, Limited Time Modes, and more. Most of the time, they also take user feedback into account when adjusting features and content.

As a result, Apex Legends’ player base keeps on rising. According to Respawn, Apex Legends’ player base crossed 100 million in April 2021, and since then, more than 30 million players have joined Apex Legends. And it shows no signs of stopping in 2023.

How Many People Play Apex?

According to Steam charts, an average of 140,379 people played Apex Legends every day in June 2024. The peak player count for June 2024 was set at 326,928.

How Many People Play Apex?

Keep in mind that only Steam players do not represent the total Apex Legends player base. So, we can use Activeplayers.io to get an idea of Apex Legends’ overall player count across all platforms. According to Active.io’s data, Apex Legends maintained an average of 2.12 million daily players in the last month.

However, Activeplayers.io doesn’t provide accurate data, and most of the data is based on the estimation of its built-in algorithm. So, it should not be used as a factual reference.

Apex Legends Player Count in Previous Seasons [Steam]

Here, we’ll list the Steam player count data for Apex Legends’ previous seasons. The chart will include average players and the highest player count for the available seasons. As Apex Legends was made available on Steam in Season 7, the chart will not show the Steam data before Season 7.

Most players switched from Origin to Steam during Seasons 7 and 8. As a result, the average and peak player counts for those two seasons aren’t overly impressive. However, after the majority of players switched to the Steam platform, there was a steady increase in the seasonal player base in the following seasons.

Hunted and Revelry were the two most successful seasons, with a significant increase in the overall player base.

Naturally, players are really excited and afraid of all the launch day server issues that have become synonymous with new Apex updates at this point. Hopefully, Respawn took enough precautions for a smooth launch of the new season.

This is just a friendly reminder for players who haven’t reached level 110 yet. The current Season 20 features two legendary reactive Rampage skins exclusive to this Season only. And it won’t be available in the future. So, if you want to max out your Battle Pass, now is the last chance.
