Data miners and leakers have found more evidence of Season 21 legend “Alter” in the game files.

With the Apex Legends Season 20 launch, Respawn mistakenly revealed an unreleased legend’s avatar through the devstream. The name was also leaked in one of the dev-gameplay footage. Apart from that, we had little information about Alter.

However, with the Shadow Society collection event update, a truckload of content was added to the game. And thanks to a leaker named Osvaltadore, we now know more information regarding the legend “Alter.”

Better Look at Alter’s Appearance

Respawn went with a very different look with Alter than we’ve seen before. Alter has a spiky hairstyle. She wears a mask around her eyes or covers them with black colors, giving her a scary look, kind of like Nightwing. Not to mention her biggest feature, the metallic tentacle, which resembles Doctor Octopus’ tentacle.

Alter Abilities

Apart from Alter’s picture, the leaker also shared her abilities in the game. Her abilities are:

  • Gift from the Rift: Can remotely interact with a deathbox to claim one item. Cannot be armor.
  • Void Passage: Creates a portal passageway through a surface.
  • Void Nexus: Creates a regroup point that all allies can remotely interact with to open a phase tunnel back to that location.

Alter Legendary Skins

From the 6 legendary skins you can see below, 4 of them are base and 2 of them are recolors. The first one [green/ top-left] and fifth one [purple/ bottom-middle] are the two recolors, the rest are base legendaries.

Alter Release Date

Alter will join the Apex Legends roster with the Season 21 launch on May 7, 2024.

The Apex Legends exploit in question, which was used to hack Genburten and ImperialHal’s games, has been reportedly patched.

To give you a little background on what happened, two hackers by the names of Destroyer2009 and R4ndom hacked into Genburten and ImperialHal’s games during the ALGS 2024 Split 1 Pro League finals NA, causing chaos in the lobby.

Because it affected not just the streamers but everyone around them, the ALGS admins made a quick decision to postpone it until further notice in order to restore the tournament’s competitive integrity.

There were many speculations as to how the hackers managed to pull this stunt. However, Destroyer2009 and R4ndom did not reveal any technical information, except for the fact that they had used an existing vulnerability in the game.

It was one of the biggest security breaches in online gaming and created a sense of fear in the Apex Legends community. Although Destroyer2009 said that he wouldn’t affect anyone else’s games, many players had already uninstalled the game just to be on the safer side.

Following the hacking incident, Respawn deployed a series of security patches through multiple updates, including the major Shadow Society collecting event.

According to a recent TechCrunch report, Destroyer2009 revealed the vulnerability they used in the ALGS regional finals had been patched.

The exploit I’ve used in [Apex Legends Global Series] is fully patched

Destroyer2009 said in an online chat

The hacker reportedly tested the exploits after the second security update went through on March 26, 2024, and found it to be fixed. However, he also clarified that he didn’t get to test it before, so he can’t say for sure which update seemed to have fixed the exploit.

TechCrunch’s report also mentions that Destroyer2009 will not publicly hack anymore as it may cause him some legal issues.

anything more severe than the [Apex tournament hack] accident will be already considered as a real hacking with all the consequences so [probably] will just play the game until it gets boring as usual.

Destroyer2009 talked about his future plans

Despite holding a partner spot, OpTic Gaming suddenly decides to leave the Apex Legends pro scene after the team fails to qualify for the ALGS 2024 Split 1 Playoffs.

One of Apex‘s most popular teams, OpTic Gaming, tweeted on X that they released the roster of Dropped, SkittleCakez, and Knoqd.

Although the organization only announced the roster release in the post, Dropped later confirmed that OpTic was exiting the overall Apex scene.

OpTic Gaming, as one of Apex’s partnered teams, was invited to the ALGS 2024 Split 1 Pro League. However, the team did not live up to its reputation, failing to qualify for the Playoffs, which will begin on May 2, 2024, at the Galen Center in Los Angeles.

OpTic Gaming finished 14th out of 30 teams in the Split 1 Pro League. As a result, they still remain eligible for direct entry in the Split 2 Pro League. However, with OpTic’s sudden departure, the team may have to continue ALGS under a new banner.

Before the official post on X, Dropped had a conversation with OpTic Gaming, where he got some clarifications as to why OpTic Gaming was suddenly exiting Apex Legends. During the discussion, Dropped asked them whether the EA partnership program was not enough to keep OpTic in the game. And the reply was, “No, it wasn’t enough to keep them [OpTic] in the game.”

Prior to the conversation, the team had no idea that OpTic was going to release the team. As a result, the news surprised them just as much as it did everyone else.

As it stands, Dropped, Skittlecakez, and Knoqd are still together as a team. However, Dropped clarified that if someone from the team gets an offer from an org, other members will not try to hold each other back.

It has only been two weeks, and Apex Legends has made the same blunder once again.

With the Breakout Split 2 update, Respawn kind of broke the game. Almost all players who logged in right after the update lost much of their progressions, Apex Coins, Heirlooms, Battle Pass, Badges, and more.

As the majority of the community was facing a similar issue, Respawn immediately took notice of it, released a statement, and let players know that they were investigating the issue. It took a few days for Respawn to return everything back to normal.

Fast forward to April 16, and a similar issue has resurfaced once again. Players found that they were missing skins, Heirlooms, and Premium Battle Pass that they had before.

Like before, the issue caught Respawn’s attention very quickly, and the developers posted on X, letting everyone know that they were aware of the issue. Thankfully, it did not take days to fix the issue this time. Just 2 and a half hours later, Respawn made another post on X saying, “This issue should now be resolved.”

If you’re reading this article and your game is still not fixed, don’t panic! Try restarting the game. It should solve your issue. However, if you still find anything missing from your account, Respawn will surely get everything sorted out in the upcoming updates.

Players need to wait a little longer as the upcoming map has been delayed further back to Season 22.

Since Apex Legends’ release, Respawn has added a new map every four seasons apart. Until Season 15, Respawn consistently followed this pattern.

However, since World’s Edge, every new map in the game has been heavily criticized by the Apex Legends community. No matter how hard Respawn tried to address the issues with the new maps, something always seemed to be lacking.

The same happened with Broken Moon. The developers attempted everything possible to offer players a solid map that resembled World’s Edge. The layout of the map also looked great on paper. However, after playing it out, players immediately started discovering its flaws, and it quickly became one of Apex’s most despised maps.

So, this time, it looks like Respawn won’t just follow the previous standard and release the map only when it’s completely ready to go. And Osvaldatore, a fellow leaker in the Apex community, confirmed that the new map “Electro District” will come to Apex in Season 22.

What do We Know About Electro District?

The first District teasers appeared months ago on the Storm Point map during Wattson’s town takeover. In the POI, you could find a weird map layout and a picture of what seems to be a new map with the code “E-District View.” It was the first time leakers revealed that the map was indeed under development for the game.

Moreover, another leak regarding the Electro District map was found in the game files. It is likely a teaser that’ll be shown in the game before Season 22.

For now, that is all we know about the latest map in Apex Legends. Hopefully, the upcoming map will not disappoint the community like before.

Respawn is currently working on the data loss issue. Temporarily shuts down the server to bring everyone’s account back to the previous state.

If anyone is still unaware, Respawn messed up big time with the Season 20 split 2 release; players lost much of their progressions, heirlooms, badges, coins, materials, and whatnot. According to KralRindo, the game time traveled back to 9 months. However, many players reported that their accounts were missing items, even from season 12.

As this was happening to almost everyone, Respawn immediately took notice of the incident and posted on X that they’d been investigating the issue. 4 hours later, they released a hotfix that resolved the issue only for people who hadn’t logged in to their accounts beforehand. However, the damage was done to the people who already logged in earlier.

15 hours later, Respawn again posted on X regarding the update. Thankfully, Respawn is rolling out a fix for the data loss. Everyone’s accounts should revert back to how they should be after the update. But to do that, Respawn has temporarily brought down the Apex Legends servers. Although they mentioned that the process may take an hour to complete, it may really take more than that.

Apex Legends has messed up big time! If you log in to your account now, you may not find everything inside.

Another update, another bug. And this time, it’s huge. The Apex Legends Season 20 split 2 has just begun. Players were excited to get into the game as the new split brings. However, as soon as they entered the game, they were greeted with something bizarre.

The last update erased many of the hard-earned crafting materials, badges, Apex coins, and battle pass advancements. According to KralRindo, the game was reset back to 9 months earlier. So, what you had at that time is currently showing up on your account right now.

The same happened to me. Before the second split came through, I had 10.5k crafting materials and 1650 Apex coins with a premium battle pass activated. However, after the split 2 went live and I restarted the game, I found that I had negative 1.6k Materials and 800 Apex coins. Not to mention, my premium battle pass is not activated anymore, and my battle pass level has also been reset to 1.

However, there is no reason for worry because Respawn is aware of the problem and appears to be looking into it. Still, to be on the safe side, we recommend that you do not log in to your account until Respawn releases a hotfix.

Players have been facing sudden crashes since the Shadow Society event update. However, it only happens if you visit the in-game store page while queuing.

Respawn has a tradition of breaking Apex Legends with almost every major update. At this point, the community has also accepted the fact that this custom will continue, and the weird bugs and errors will always show up.

Most of the time, the bugs and errors aren’t that serious, and players can laugh it off. However, sometimes, the bugs and errors are too frustrating to overlook, especially when they prevent you from playing or enjoying the game at all.

The same thing has been happening in Season 20 since the Shadow Society event update. A number of players reported that their game crashed while they were matchmaking and browsing the in-game store. As absurd as it sounds, accessing the Apex store while queuing triggers the error, which ends up causing the game to crash.

Many of you facing the error multiple times may have already realized why it’s been happening to you. However, most players might still be unaware of this, ending up losing hard-earned RPs in ranked matches.

So, what can you do for now? Currently, the only way to avoid crashing the game is not to visit the Apex store when you are queuing for a match. You can safely visit the store page before queueing for a game or right after it ends.

Respawn has a planned update scheduled for April 1, 2024. There’s a good chance that the issue will be resolved by then. However, if it has not been fixed by then, we recommend that you avoid browsing the Apex store while matchmaking.

Thanks to KralRindo, we have new information regarding Apex Legends’ upcoming Heirloom, Cobalt Katar.

Apex Legends introduced a universal Heirloom in the Season 19 Final Fantasy collection event. Despite the hefty price tag, the Heirloom was surprisingly well-received by the community and was overall successful, according to Respawn.

As a result, Apex Legends is reportedly planning to introduce another universal Heirloom. Here’s everything we know about the Cobalt Katar Heirloom.

Cobalt Katar Heirloom Look

Respawn teased the Cobalt Katar Heirloom in the Breakout launch trailer. From 27 to 35 seconds, you can see Lifeline holding a unique-looking melee weapon that has never been in the game before. Apparently, this is the Cobalt Katar Heirloom.

Cobalt Katar Heirloom
credit: ea

Cobalt Katar is a one-handed melee weapon that takes its design cues from the Indian subcontinent’s “Katar” push dagger. The edge of the blade appears to be electrified, similar to Wraith’s Kunai, giving the heirloom a very flashy look. Apart from that, not much can be said about Cobalt Katar’s appearance and animation right now. We’ll get more information once more leaks are revealed.

It will be a Universal Heirloom

Cobalt Katar will be a universal Heirloom similar to the Buster Sword released in the Final Fantasy event. This means that any Legend in the game will be able to equip and use it. However, there’s more to it.

You can Upgrade it!

Unlike the Heirlooms we’ve seen previously, Cobalt Katar will offer plenty of customization options. According to KralRindo, you can change its style and parts by unlocking them. Nonetheless, you need to spend some money if you choose to upgrade it.

You can change it’s blade, power source, theme and deathbox skin (all blades and deathboxes locked behind paywall, most of power source and theme cosmetics unlocked)

KralRindo on X

Cobalt Katar Price

Based on the information available right now, Cobalt Katar Heirloom will be rewarded to players for unlocking 36 items from the particular Collection event. If that’s the case, the cost of Cobalt Katar will be 360 USD. However, to unlock every feature and upgrade Cobalt Katar fully, you have to spend around 700 USD.

What if I told you that this heirloom was 700 USD, would you believe me?

KralRindo on X

Nonetheless, it is still unconfirmed, as KralRindo himself said it is not 100% verified. Moreover, other sources also mentioned that this might not be the case. Therefore, an accurate price quote for Cobalt Katar cannot be provided at this time.

Cobalt Katar Release Date

According to KralRindo, the Cobalt Katar Heirloom will be released in the game in the upcoming season. However, there is no exact release date as of now.
