Abyss’ boundarylessness and verticality encourage players to play a selected number of agents.

Abyss has a very straightforward map layout. The new VALORANT map encourages long-range gunfights, which is an advantage for agents who are comfortable taking distant fights. Another interesting feature of Abyss is its verticality and the fact that it has no boundaries. These two features open up many possibilities for agents like Jett, Raze, and Omen, who can reach tricky positions using their movement abilities.

10 Best Agents to Play on Abyss

Earlier, we talked about what types of Agents fit well in Abyss. But there are many Agents to pick from, and choosing the best one is crucial to winning a match in Abyss. So, by keeping Abyss’ map layout, special features, and current meta in mind, I will recommend 10 Agents that you can play in Abyss to maximize your winning chances.

Duelists

Jett

Jett
  • Abilities:
    • Passive: Drift
    • Basic: Cloudburst, Updraft
    • Signature: Tailbind
    • Ultimate: Blade Storm

It almost feels like Abyss was created for Jett. All of her abilities perfectly complement Abyss’ three distinct features- no boundaries, verticality, and long-range fights. Although there’s a slight chance that the meta will change in the future, there’s no Duelist better fitted for Abyss right now.

Raze

Raze
  • Abilities:
    • Basic: Boom Bot
    • Signature: Paint Shells
    • Ultimate: Showstopper

Similar to Jett, Raze’s utilities also allow her to reign supreme in Abyss. Raze can use her satchel jump to reach places where other agents are unable to do so. Moreover, Raze is great on this map because she can use her satchel to push enemies out of the boundaries, making Raze one of the best candidates to clutch up in post-plant situations.

Controller

Omen

Omen
  • Abilities:
    • Basic: Shrouded Step, Paranoia
    • Signature: Dark Cover
    • Ultimate: From the Shadows

Omen is right now the meta Controller Agent in VALORANT. It is still applicable to Abyss’ vertical map layout. Omen can easily get on top of any height and give cover to their teammates, making them a deadly character for opponents. Moreover, Omen’s Shrouded Step ability opens up many possibilities to approach the map’s unique no-boundary layout. So, as long as Omen does not get nerfed, they’ll be in Abyss as one of the most picked Agents.

Astra

  • Abilities:
    • Passive: Astral Form
    • Basic: Gravity Well, Nova Pulse, Nebula/Dissipiate
    • Signatures: Stars
    • Ultimate: Cosmic Divide

Astra is a really useful Agent in Abyss mainly because of her Gravity Well ability. You can literally pull enemies out of the small bridge in A-site and stop the defuse. Doing the same thing on the Defenders’ side can also prevent enemies from planting the spike in that specific position.

Viper

Viper
  • Abilities:
    • Passive: Fuel, Toxin
    • Basic: Snake Bite, Poison Cloud
    • Signature: Toxic Screen
    • Ultimate: Viper’s Pit

Viper is still in the Abyss meta because she can cut off mid, for rotation. As there are a lot of choke points, Viper’s Snake Bite and Poison Cloud will be key to clearing many angles, forcing enemies to come out. Her Ultimate also covers the entire A-site, giving defenders options to defuse a spike securely.

Initiator

Gekko

Gekko
  • Abilities:
    • Passive: Globules
    • Basic: Mosh Pit, Wingman
    • Signature: Dizzy
    • Ultimate: Thrash

Gekko is an interesting but cheeky Agent for Abyss. He is especially useful on the map for his Wingman. Wingman can easily plant or defuse the Spike on the little bridge on A-site. Moreover, Wingman can also surprisingly cross the little ledge before B-site and cross it successfully, making it easier for the team to save their manpower in other areas.

Breach

Breach
  • Abilities:
    • Basic: Aftershock, Flashpoint
    • Signatures: Fault Line
    • Ultimate: Rolling Thunder

Breach is going to be an essential character in Abyss. All of Breach’s abilities will help you clear crucial angles, make pathways for your Duelists, and support your team. Moreover, his Ultimate can easily come in clutch while retaking sites.

Sova

Sova
  • Abilities:
    • Basic: Owl Drone, Shock Bolt
    • Signature: Recon Bolt
    • Ultimate: Hunter’s Fury

Sova performs pretty well in vertical maps. As it is almost impossible to clear every angle with Fade, Skye, or other Initiators, having a Sova in the team can give you intel like no other Agent.

Sentinel

Cypher

CYPHER
  • Abilities:
    • Basic: Trapwire, Cyber Cage
    • Signature: Spycam
    • Ultimate: Neutral Theft

Cypher is a powerful Agent in Abyss. There are countless angles on each side. It is physically almost impossible to hold every angle. But, with Cypher, you can cover multiple angles with his Spycam’s assistance. He can also stay carefree while his Trapwires and Cyber Cages are in action. Not to mention, you can force the enemies out of boundaries with the traps.

Killjoy

Killjoy
  • Abilities:
    • Basic: Alarmbot, Nanoswarm
    • Signature: Turret
    • Ultimate: Lockdown

Killjoy has been nerfed quite a bit in Patch 8.00. Her turret now sees a shorter angle. However, she is still viable in Abyss. Her turret now sees a shorter angle. Most of the sites and mid are long pathways, so it should not be a problem. Nevertheless, you may need to find new locations to use the turret more effectively. But with Killjoy’s other abilities, you should still be able to lock down a site on your own

Best Team Compositions in Abyss

We’ve given you some ideas regarding what Agents to pick in Abyss. Now, let’s talk about the team composition. Good or bad, not every Agent syncs with other Agents. For example, if you have Jett on your team, then there’s almost no point in picking up Raze. Instead, go for the other two Controller agents that we recommended and vice versa. The same rule will also apply to flash and smoke Agents.

With that in mind, here’s our recommendation for the best team compositions in Breeze:

  • Team composition 1: Jett, Omen, Viper, Killjoy, Gekko
  • Team composition 2: Raze, Omen, Astra, Cypher, Gekko
  • Team composition 3: Jett, Astra, Viper, Killjoy, Sova
  • Team composition 4: Raze, Astra, Omen, Cypher, Sova
