Infamous speed hacks have returned to Warzone 2.0 after the latest Season 2 update.

Call of Duty: Warzone was Activision’s second attempt at the Battle Royale genre. Taking basic mechanics from multiplayer, Warzone 1 was introduced to players worldwide. After a smooth launch, the game became progressively riddled with cheaters using various in-game hacks like aimbot, walling and speed hacks.

Warzone 2.0 also went through the same problem after launch. In the first few seasons, the game was free from cheaters. However, with each season, they started figuring out new hacks to use in Warzone 2.0. In recent events, it seems like Speed Hacks have returned to Warzone 2.0, which is worse than before.

Speed Hacks are Back in Warzone 2.0

In a recent tweet, Warzone 2.0 content creator Chad Adams shared a clip about the return of speed hacks.

Speed hacks are movement-related cheats that change players’ speed severely, making them reach impossible movement speeds in-game. In the shared gameplay footage, Chad Adams shows how a cheater using speed hacks zoomed past him at twice the concurrent movement speed.

While speed hacks are increasing movement speed for cheaters, they are still getting dunked on due to the insanely strong aim-assist of the new Modern Warfare 3 engine. The dynamic and rotational aim assist almost locks on a moving player even though they move faster than the usual speed.

The return of speed hacks is a glimpse of the current condition of Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play. Modern Warfare 3 Ranked Play has seen a massive player drop due to the increasing number of cheaters in every match, especially for ranks above Diamond.

Hopefully, Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software will quickly address the hacking situation with the next mid-season update, as the reducing player count will only take the game back to Modern Warfare 2‘s near-death state.

The loadout drop field upgrade has been permanently removed from Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer.

Modern Warfare 3 has been widely successful worldwide, thanks to Sledgehammer Games. Taking the helm from Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games has made many positive changes to the game, including the new change to an old field upgrade.

The field upgrade we are talking about is the loadout drop field upgrade, which has been available since Modern Warfare (2019). According to recent reports, the field upgrade has been permanently removed from Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer mode.

Loadout Drop Field Upgrade Removed from Multiplayer Game Mode

In a recent tweet, Sledgehammer Games shared a recent change to Modern Warfare 3’s multiplayer. They stated that the Loadout Drop field upgrade is permanently removed from the game due to underuse and exploitation matters.

Modern Warfare 3 Loadout Drops Removed
Image via gameriv

The loadout drop upgrade allowed players to change their loadouts mid-game. Using the field upgrade, a large box similar to Warzone’s loadout drop was dropped into the map, and after interacting with it, players could change their loadout.

However, the loadout drop was heavily underused in multiplayer game mode. The time required to reach the loadout screen after interacting with the field upgrade was too high, leading players to get killed while maintaining a kill streak or completing challenges.

Another problem with the loadout drop field upgrade was its role in exploits. Exploiters broke the game using this loadout drop field upgrade by summoning it in awkward positions in different maps.

The removal of the field upgrade is unsurprising, as it has been almost absent from the field upgrade meta for a while. So, if you want to use the Field upgrade in your next play session, wait until the subsequent game releases or hop into Warzone 2.0 to use the Loadout Drops.

New reports suggest Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War will feature an open-world campaign. The most important information from the leak is that the open-world missions from Modern Warfare 3 will reportedly be entirely integrated into the 2024 Call of Duty.

However, this won’t be the first time Call of Duty to feature an open-world campaign in the series. Previously, Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3’s “Open World Missions” provided the first idea of what an open-world campaign could look like. Black Ops Gulf War is set to take Modern Warfare 3’s open-world missions to a different level.

Open World Campaign Mode Coming Back to CoD

According to a report by Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming, the 2024 Call of Duty will feature an open-world single-player campaign, and Raven Software will be working on the story.

Treyarch will be developing the multiplayer and Zombies features for the game, as per the same source. Moreover, the sources stated that Gulf War’s campaign mode will be a standalone story developed from the ground up rather than using resources from the previous titles.

Players can use the vehicles to explore and navigate throughout the map. In addition, the game will also feature a fast travel system to get from one point to another. Sources confirmed that some linear missions will be included in the game, though it’s unclear how many will be in total.

The same source also mentioned that the game’s single-player campaign experience will be similar to Far Cry rather than Modern Warfare 3. In addition, Raven Software’s Call of Duty Black Ops: Gulf War will also see the return of several Black Ops characters, such as Adler.

According to sources, the Black Ops Gulf War is not the only open-world campaign in the series, as Activision might move forward and explore more in the future. 2025 Call of Duty, codenamed ‘Saturn’, might also feature an open-world campaign.

However, it is unclear which studio is currently working on the project, and the Saturn map is expected to be separated into several different biomes/locations.

Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War is speculated to be released in October 2024 and will be the sixth title in the Call of Duty Black Ops series.

Call of Duty has finally explained how the SBMM process works in Modern Warfare 3.

Matchmaking has been a huge debate in the CoD community since the game’s inception. The devs have always been quiet about how the complete matchmaking process functions. But the severity of SBMM since the release of Modern Warfare (2019) has left players curious about how the new CoD titles handle the matchmaking process.

SBMM has been a widely controversial topic of all CoD titles since 2019. The whole matchmaking system became a bane for the community as it started punishing good players for performing well and letting new players experience a smoother lobby experience. Putting all speculations aside, Call of Duty has finally explained how their matchmaking process works in Modern Warfare 3.

Read More: Fortune’s Keep Teased for Warzone 2.0 Season 2

Full SBMM Process Explained

Matchmaking in Call of Duty is completely based on a Skill standpoint, or better know as SBMM. Skill-based matchmaking (SBMM) is a very complex process. In a recent blog, Call of Duty explained how their matchmaking system works. Here’s an overview of the whole process:

Modern Warfare 3 SBMM Explained
  1. CONNECTION – Connection is the first step of the matchmaking process. It factors in ping, and regional coordinates. Players are always sent to lobbies of their region, and with ping being the lowest possible.
  2. TIME TO MATCH – Time to match is the second process unless you are shadowbanned for obvious reasons. Matchmaking usually takes up to 2 minutes at most.
  3. The following factors are also critical to the matchmaking process:
  • PLAYLIST DIVERSITY – The number of playlists available for players to choose from. It basically accounts for the playlist chosen by the player before starting the matchmaking process.
  • RECENT MAPS/MODES – Unless you are queuing for a fixed map playlist, the matchmaking process accounts for the previous map you played and pushes you into a new map pool with map voting options.
  • SKILL/PERFORMANCE– Depending on your skill or performance in previous matches, the difficulty of your lobby or your opponents are matched. If you perform well in a match, you will be put in harder lobbies for the next few matches, and vice versa.
  • INPUT DEVICE – Depends on Crossplay settings, input such as Controller or mouse and keyboard.
  • PLATFORM – The device (PC, Console) that you are playing on.
  • VOICE CHAT – Depends on if you have it Enabled or disabled.

Every time a player begins matchmaking in Multiplayer, for example, the process needs to work through all these factors to find other players to assemble a stable and competitive lobby quickly.

According to the devs at Call of Duty, they are confident that this process creates a balanced and competitive environment. However, most players and content creators seem to disagree about how effective the whole “SBMM” process has been since 2019. In our personal experience, the SBMM in Modern Warfare 3 is very strict and unless you know the workarounds you will always be punished for performing well in a game.

Warzone 2.0’s Resurgence Ranked Play is coming with the Season 2 Update. Here’s a look at the updated rule set and ranked rewards.

Warzone 2.0 is one of the largest BR games worldwide. Developed on IW’s new engine, the game is under the helm of Raven Software. The studio has introduced many new game modes to Warozne 2.0, including Ranked Play.

While normal Ranked Play has been there for a while, the Resurgence game mode was only available casually. However, it is changing with the launch of Season 2, as we will be getting Ranked Mode for the fan-favorite Resurgence game mode.

Resurgence Ranked Mode: The Basics

Ranked Play Resurgence is the official competitive Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 experience. Players must be at least Level 55 to access this mode. Here are the initial match parameters:

  • Party Size: Trios
  • Map: Fortune’s Keep
  • Game Mode: Resurgence
  • Public Event restrictions: Yes (Firesale and Restock happen at fixed circles. No other Public Events are available)
  • Vehicle restrictions: Yes (e.g., No Turreted Vehicles)
  • Restricted gameplay elements: Yes
  • Buy Station Inventory Adjustments: Yes

Skill Divisions

Warzone 2 Resurgence Ranked Mode

As before, there are seven standard Skill Divisions (SD). When Ranked Play launches in Season 2, you begin at Bronze I and earn a Skill Rating (SR) based on your match performance. Your SD/SR from last year will not carry over.

  • This is related to Placement, Kills, Assists, and Kills by your squad.
  • The SR Points earned are increased based on the number of enemy squads remaining in your match, as usual.
  • A Deployment Fee is deducted from your SR total at the start of each match once you reach Silver I Skill Division, and that fee increases the higher your Skill Division Tier is.
  • At the end of each Season, you are set back three Tiers below where you finished in the previous season.
  • Players Crimson II and above will be set back to Diamond I.
  • SR Forgiveness, Demotion Protection, Squad Backout, Match Cancelling, and Suspensions are all included in this Mode, and RICOCHET Anti-Cheat will be enforcing a zero-tolerance policy related to cheating.

Alterations and Innovations

Warzone 2 Resurgence Ranked Mode

Alteration — Rank Progression: Placement Stars are adjusted for the lower squad count as follows:

  • Place in the Top 8 of Squads: One Star
  • Place in the Top 5 of Squads: Two Stars
  • Finish 1st: Three Stars

Alteration — SR Placement: Tuning adjustments have occurred due to the lower squad count and faster Resurgence playstyle, resulting in the following SR rewards:

  • Teams Remaining: 14: SR = 0
  • Teams Remaining: 10: SR = 15
  • Teams Remaining: 8: SR = 30
  • Teams Remaining: 6: SR = 45
  • Teams Remaining: 5: SR = 60
  • Teams Remaining: 4: SR = 80
  • Teams Remaining: 3: SR = 100
  • Teams Remaining: 2: SR = 125
  • Teams Remaining: 1: SR = 150

Alteration — SR for Kills and Assists: The SR you receive for Kills and Assists has been tuned based on the lower number of teams remaining:

  • Teams Remaining: 9+: SR Per Kill/Assist = 5. SR Per Non-Assisted Kill = 2.
  • Teams Remaining: 8: SR Per Kill/Assist = 7. SR Per Non-Assisted Kill = 3.
  • Teams Remaining: 3: SR Per Kill/Assist = 15. SR Per Non-Assisted Kill = 7.

SR Deployment Fees per Match: This is unchanged.

New — Seasonal SR Challenges: Begin each Ranked Play Season strong, and ensure you rank your way out of early Divisions rapidly by earning bonus SR Rewards for completing Challenges. Visible in the front-end menus, the following Challenges can be completed once per Season:

  • First Kill or Assist: +100 SR
  • 10 Kills or Assists: +100 SR
  • 25 Kills or Assists: +100 SR
  • 50 Kills or Assists: +100 SR
  • 100 Kills or Assists: +100 SR
  • Reach Top 8 Squad: +100 SR
  • Reach Top 5 Squad: +100 SR
  • Reach Top 3 Squad: +100 SR
  • Win a Match: +200 SR

Altered — Ranked Challenges: The Seasonal Kill and Placement Challenges you should be familiar with have been adjusted due to the faster pace and lower squad count of Resurgence. Expect these Ranked Play Challenges (with the rewards detailed):

  •  Finish in the Top 8, 25 times: “Melted” Large Decal.
  •  Finish in the Top 5, 10 times: “Pro Issue” Striker SMG Blueprint.
  • Finish 1st: “Popped Off” Charm.
  • Get 50 Kills or Assists: “WZ Season 2 Competitor” Sticker.
  • Get 250 Kills or Assists: “WZ Ranked Play Season 2” Loading Screen.
  • Get 1,000 Kills or Assists: “WZ Season 2 Ranked Veteran” Weapon Camo.

New — SR Death Fees: Beginning at Silver I, Death Fees become active in matches. They are designed to highlight specific survival by a single player within a squad. A Death Fee deducts a small amount of SR each time you die in a match. Resurgence allows for multiple deaths per match, but a skilled Ranked Player’s focus on each match should be to place high, with high kills and low deaths.

Altered — Rejoining and Match Cancelling: Players will not be redeployed if they become disconnected but will remain in the match. Additionally, at least three squads must remain in a match for a disconnected player to rejoin. Matches can be canceled during the pre-lobby once the player count drops below 13 squads.

All Ranked Mode Rewards

There are two Ranked Mode Rewards groups this season – Rank Rewards and Skill Division Rewards. Here’s a look at all of them:

Rank Rewards: Earn up to three Rank Stars per match, with unlocks at every five Ranks, including the following:

  • Rank 5: Calling Card and “Sweat Buggy” Vehicle Skin.
  • Rank 10: Calling Card and “On the Rise” Animated Emblem.
  • Rank 15: Calling Card and “Carrying the Squad” Weapon Sticker.
  • Rank 20: Calling Card and “Team Player” Weapon Charm.
  • Rank 25: Calling Card and “GOAT” Animated Emblem.
  • Rank 30: Calling Card and “WZ Ranked Play Rank 30” Weapon Camo.
  • Rank 35: Calling Card and “WTB” Weapon Sticker.
  • Rank 40: Calling Card and “Beamed” Weapon Decal.
  • Rank 45: Calling Card and “You Tried” Weapon Charm.
  • Rank 50: Calling Card, “WZ Ranked Veteran” Animated Emblem and four Operator Skins.

Skill Division Rewards: Climb the Divisions throughout Season 2 and claim the following unique rewards:

  • Highest Division — Bronze: “WZ Season 2 Bronze” Emblem.
  • Highest Division — Silver: “WZ Season 2 Silver” Emblem.
  • Highest Division — Gold: “WZ Season 2 Gold” Animated Emblem and Large Decal.
  • Highest Division — Platinum: “WZ Season 2 Platinum” Animated Emblem and Large Decal.
  • Highest Division — Diamond: “WZ Season 2 Diamond” Animated Emblem and Large Decal.
  • Highest Division — Crimson: “WZ Season 2 Crimson” Animated Emblem and Large Decal.
  • Highest Division — Iridescent: “WZ Season 2 Iridescent” Animated Calling Card, Animated Emblem and Large Decal.
  • End Season 2 in Top 250: “WZ Season 2 Top 250” Animated Calling Card, Animated Emblem, and Large Decal.
  • End Season 2 No. 1 Overall: “WZ Season #1 Overall” Animated Calling Card and Animated Emblem.

Resurgence Ranked Play is the most awaited game mode for Season 2. So, gear up as Ranked Play is almost around the corner.

Content creators have received a teaser for the Season 2 content and the return of the Fortune’s Keep map.

Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is currently in the second wave of Season 1. With the integration of Modern Warfare 3 in December 2023, the game finally evolved into a new state with revamped movement and new weapons added to the roster.

Aside from these changes, players also saw the resurgence of a new map called Urzikstan, which is bigger in scale than Al Mazrah. However, most Warzone 2.0 players demanded the release of new small Resurgence game modes, especially the Fortune’s Keep map. In a new wave of teasers, content creators have received hints at the return of the most awaited Fortune’s Keep map with the release of the Season 2 update.

The Return of Fortune’s Keep

In recent events, five content creators worldwide were sent packages containing a teaser to the most awaited Fortune’s Keep map. The creators received small models of different POIs of the map, which have reportedly been affected by an earthquake.

Warzone 2.0 creator Outlaws Majin shared an image of the Winery POI, which seemingly carries a crack in the middle from the aftershocks of an earthquake. This shows that the POIs have been revamped for the latest release.

On the other hand, Spanish Warzone 2.0 creator Kesto received a model containing a new POI that had not been seen in the Fortune’s Keep map before. The POI features a small water body that might be in the middle of it. The model is also labeled with the Fortune’s Keep logo.

Warzone 2.0 creator Nicari also looked at the Castle POI, which was also affected by the earthquake. It is clear from the looks of the POIs that the map has been heavily redesigned for Warzone 2.0.

Previously, the Castle or Keep POI has been a popular hot drop for most players, and with the recent changes, there is no doubt the POI will get more traffic.

The footage of a cancelled futuristic Call of Duty developed by Neversoft Studios has surfaced online.

Call of Duty moved to the modern era with the release of Modern Warfare (2019). The game rebooted the MW franchise under Infinity Ward and left the boots of the CoD behind. While futuristic CoDs were fun to play, players were getting sick of it.

Call of Duty Ghosts was released in 2013 which was a boots-on-the-ground CoD. Although initially, the game did not receive appreciation, over time, it has become an underrated masterpiece. In a recent leak, it was discovered that a futuristic CoD called NX1 was supposed to take the place of Ghosts, but it ended up getting cancelled.

Cancelled Futuristic CoD’s Leaked Footage

I a recent tweet, a leaker shared a look at Neversoft Studios’ project titled “NX1” which was reportedly a cancelled game. It was supposed to be released in place of Ghosts back in 2013, but it was later shelved due to internal reasons.

The leaked footage shows that the game is a boots of the ground take in space. The gameplay has huge similarities with Infinite Warfare. Moreover, the main menu resembles the Ghosts menu, which was changed with Modern Warfare (2019).

The last 4 CoD titles took a more grounded approach, and it seems like the 2024 title Call of Duty Black Ops Gulf War will also go on the same path. A futuristic CoD title might be on the way in the coming years, however, no news or intel regarding it has been shared by Activision or affiliated studios yet.

While we all wish to play a futuristic CoD again, it is unlikely that Activision will move in that direction following the poor performance of many previous futuristic CoD titles.

Aside from Ranked Play, the new Champions Quest, aka the new Warzone 2.0 nuke quest, has also been disabled temporarily. It was disabled following a large number of complaints regarding in-game issues.

Content creators like TimtheTatman also shared their in-game clips showing the network and performance issues. Most of the time, January updates are released to fix everything wrong with the game, which has massively backfired for Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 3.

The delaying of Ranked Play might put a lot of pressure on Sledgehammer Games as they need to deliver properly once this season is over. Moreover, the rampant cheater issue might also become a problem once Ranked Play emerges. We’ll post an update on the Ranked Play situation once more intel is available.

Activision’s anti-cheat software Ricochet will close the game when it detects a keyboard and mouse player using aim assist.

Activision and Sledgehammer Games will release the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Zombies Season 1 Reloaded update today. The new update will bring new game modes, new maps, playlist updates, weapons and attachment adjustments, and bug fixes with the update. The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season One update will go live on January 17 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET.

With the new update, Activision is also revamping the anti-cheat tech in Call of Duty to make it harder for players to cheat. Call of Duty players have been using unauthorized third-party hardware like Cronus Zen and XIM to aim assist and reduce recoil while playing on keyboard and mouse.

Earlier today, Activision warned Call of Duty players that the anti-cheat tech will close the game down if the software has any tools to activate aim assist on Mouse and Keyboard.

Using Third-party Tools in CoD May Cause a Ban

In a tweet posted earlier, Activision has warned the players that Call of Duty’s anti-cheat technology Ricochet will now close the game on PC if it detects a KBM player using aim assist. The post stated,

“Our security detection systems now target players using tools to activate aim assist while using a mouse and keyboard. The Call of Duty application will close if detected.

Repeated use of these tools may lead to further account action.”

Call of Duty Updates on X

Aim assist has been one of the most controversial and hottest subjects in the Call of Duty community for a while. However, this is the first time Activision has acknowledged the issue and implemented a countermeasure. Since aim assist was not meant for keyboard and mouse, players have exploited this for a while.

Last year, Activision stated that Ricochet would detect the cheaters and ban them if they were repeat offenders. This new technology will target third-party tools like ‘reWASD, a popular controller mapping software’ that can be used to remap the keyboard and mouse to create a virtual controller. This remapping will allow keyboard and mouse players to enable aim assist in the game realistically. The new technology will supposedly stop the players from using aim assist on keyboard and mouse.
