Modern Warfare 3 is getting a new limited-time Zombies hybrid game mode called Vortex with the newest update.
Modern Warfare 3 is the latest live service title of Activision. Like the previous CoD titles, the game receives regular updates featuring new weapons, maps, and various in-game limited game modes.
Call of Duty generally has a tradition of adding new game modes with every festive event, including Christmas, New Year, and Thanksgiving. Following their long-standing tradition, this year is no different.
During winter, Sledgehammer Games introduced a limited-time Xmas in-game event and game modes. As we have entered a year, they are shelving those modes and introducing the newest Zombies hybrid game mode, Vortex.

What is the New “Vortex” LTM?
The new Vortex LTM is a cross between the traditional and Zombies game mode. One player spawns with the infamous Zombies Wonder Weapon, the one-shot Ray Gun, in this free-for-all mode. Whoever eliminates the Operator with the Ray Gun becomes the new owner of this powerful and otherworldly pistol.
The new LTM is similar to Infected game mode, where few players can access weapons while others try to hunt them down. However, instead of making them join the team, they get access to the Ray Gun, the most powerful weapon in that game mode.
Vortex LTM Maps
The Vortex LTM takes place on a remixed version of classic maps. Here are three maps that will get a remixed version for the Vortex LTM:
- Satan’s Quarry
- Sporeyard
- Tetanus
Vortex LTM Release Date
According to Sledgehammer Games, the Vortex LTM will be added on January 3, 2024. After testing out fan reactions, the game mode might become permanent or recurring in future seasons. This is the first Zombies and traditional multiplayer game mode crossover. The current Modern Warfare Zombies has been a massive success for Sledgehammer Games, leaving players excited for more Zombies-related content.
