Want to obtain all the possible rewards from the Sphinx riddles? Then this guide will help you to answer them.

One of the many exciting side quests and puzzles you can encounter in Dragon’s Dogma 2 is the Sphinx’s riddles. There are a total of 10 riddles that you will have to answer, which will unlock the achievement: Full Marks and also complete the quest: A Game of Wits along with the reward Eternal Wakestone which is quite rare to find.

But completing this puzzle and the quest is more difficult than it seems, as you will only get one shot. Get the Riddle wrong, and you won’t get all the rewards, as the Sphinx will attack you (just like in the myth).

Therefore, if you want to solve all Sphinx riddles in Dragon’s Dogma 2, then you need to answer them correctly. So, let’s get started!

How to Find the Sphinx

It is quite obvious that you won’t trigger the puzzle if you don’t find the Sphinx first. But she isn’t that far away from your starting town. She’s actually placed in two locations. She moves to the second one once you have completed the first five riddles.

First Location

At the northeast point of the Checkpoint Rest Town, you will find the Ancient Battleground. There is a half-destroyed fortress there. At the apex of the Mountain Shrine, you will see the Sphinx, which is located on the hilltop.

Second Location

When you’ve successfully answered the first five riddles, the Sphinx will say that it’s leaving for another location, and you will have to find her again to play. This new location is in the Frontier Shrine. You can find this location by following the river flowing to the west side of the Checkpoint Rest Town.

Tip: An easy trick that you can do is to hop into the back of the Sphinx when it is preparing to take flight after your conversation. This way, the Sphinx itself will take you to the 2nd location.

Here is everything you need to do to answer the riddles of the Sphinx:

Riddle 1: The Riddle of Eyes

“Our eyes are our allies, yet oft they betray, for eyes tell lies, so I advise, and thence do lead astray. Yet how will your eyes advise you? Venture through yonder door, and retrieve that which is of greatest value.”

Solution: Here, the Sphinx is asking you to bring the most valuable item to the nearest cave. There is a door that will open for you to access. Upon entering the designated door, immediately turn around and locate a chest above the entrance door. Inside, you’ll find the “Sealing Phial,” the most valuable item in the area. Present this item to the Sphinx.

Reward: Wakestone

Riddle 2: The Riddle of Madness

“Love is as twin to madness, they say. They are bound fast, as night is to day. So bring forth your most beloved to me, that I might gauge the depth of your insanity.”

Solution: Bring a character with whom you’ve reached max relationship status, such as Ulrika, to the Sphinx. Place them on the platform to respond to the riddle.

Reward: Portcrystal

Riddle 3: The Riddle of Wisdom

“The parent knows the child, yet the reverse is far from true. The child knows not the parent: such is the parent’s due. I am a lost child; for kinship do I yearn. So bring to me my ‘Parent’, that I might better learn.”

Solution: Recruit the Capcom-made pawn called “SphinxFather” found inside Riftstones. Place him on the platform in front of the Sphinx.

Reward: 1200 RC (Rift Currency)

Riddle 4: The Sphinx’s Riddle of Conviction

“Life is an enigma – a lender of mortal debt. Yet a lighter pack makes fleeter foot and challenge nimbly met. So grant to me what you most prize, and thence elude your ponderous demise.”

Solution: Present any item to the Sphinx. It will reward you with a duplicate of the item you presented. Therefore, make sure to give it something expensive.

Reward: Duplicates the item you give

Riddle 5: The Riddle of Rumination

“It’s ever the first we keep fond in our breast, and ever the first that eclipses the rest. You know of the Seeker’s Tokens, I trust? Those keepsakes of a fondly remembered journey? Yet where was it that you found your first? Retrace your steps, if you can – you might make a new discovery. Seven days, shall we say, ere you return? May your journey be a pleasant one.”

Solution: Return to the location where you found your first Seeker Token in this playthrough. Retrieve the unique item called a Finder’s Token from that spot and bring it back to the Sphinx.

Tip: It is better to screenshot where you got your first token.

Reward: 3 x Ferrystones

Riddle 6: The Riddle of Reunion

This Riddle is automatically solved upon finding the Sphinx in its second location. The chest on the left will be unlocked upon finding it.

Reward: 100,000 G

Riddle 7: The Riddle of Recollection

“Now, questions beget questions, and I have one for you. How many riddles have you solved thus far? My memory fails me, you see. Remind me, and make it plain. Let yonder statues be your means. For every Riddle aptly answered, bring one here before me.”

Solution: Pick up stone statues to correctly represent the number of riddles you’ve solved and place them in front of the Sphinx. So, if you are following from the start, then you will need to put 6 statues in front of the Sphinx, not seven (people mess that up a lot).

Reward: Unmaking Arrow

Riddle 8: The Riddle of Contest

“Though ours is a battle of wits, tests of mettle are more to your strength. Is that not so? Come, try your arm – though he shall be your opponent, not I. However, I am not one to be amused by a simple duel. Bear this ring into battle, that I might gauge your true strength.”

Solution: Defeat the enemy that spawns to the right of the Sphinx in battle (push it off the cliff).

Reward: Ring of Ambition

Riddle 9: The Sphinx’s Riddle of Futility

“How easily the mind unravels! Some say it’s pain that does it best, others darkness – but I say neither. Rather, I say a mind cannot be more soundly broken than when it beholds its earnest efforts laid low in a single stroke. Could you survive such despair? We shall see. Here I have an amphora destined for Ser Maurits in Battahl. Deliver it to him, but beware; it’s rather fragile.”

Solution: Carry the vase given by the Sphinx to Ser Maurits in Battahl without breaking it.

Reward: Eternal Bond (Ring)

Riddle 10: The Riddle of Differentiation

“So vast is the world, and full of life; you are but one of many. Indeed, in the grand scheme, we are as distinct from one another as pebbles on a beach – yet we do so love to extol our differences. But are these differences so great? If you believe so, this next task should prove exceedingly simple. I seek this man. If men are so distinct, I’m sure you’ll find him in a trice.”

Solution: Here, the Sphinx will find you one of the twins Dante and Vergil (a fun nod to DMC). They are discriminated against because of their scars and hair. Dante has straight hair, and Vergil is curly. So, make sure to take a screenshot or remember the details. Identify and bring back the NPC shown by the Sphinx. Compare the provided image with Dante or Vergil and retrieve the correct character.

Dante is found in Checkpoint Rest Town, and Vergil is found in Bakbattahl.

Reward: Whimsical Daydream

Kill the Sphinx

Once you have obtained all the 10 battle rewards, you can just attack the Sphinx and kill it to get the final reward which is the Eternal Wakestone.
