This guide will show you how to craft a lead for animals in Minecraft.

Minecraft is a sandbox survival game released more than a decade ago by Mojang Studios. Minecraft started as a simple survival game where players must focus on making tools, harvesting materials, and collecting food to survive.

But the game has received numerous updates, and now players can get creative and do a lot of activities in the game.

There are tons of mobs in Minecraft, including animals like horses, cows, sheep, etc. You can use food items to lure them, but moving them from one place to another is difficult. But you can use a lead to move mobs around in Minecraft.

A lead is an item in Minecraft that you can attach to mobs and use as a leash to move them around. Lead is handy when you try to tame different animals to build a farm and move them to places or make them stay near the base.

This guide will show you how to make a lead in Minecraft.

Crafting a Lead in Minecraft

Crafting a lead is a straightforward process because you only need two items: slimeball and strings. You need exactly four strings and one slimeball to create a lead, which you can use on animals and a few other mobs.

First, you must gather four pieces of string to craft a lead. You can find strings in abandoned villages, mineshafts, or just by killing spiders in Minecraft. Find some cobwebs in a mineshaft and break them with any tools or just with your hands to get strings.

Next, you need to collect slimeballs which you can get by killing slimes. Slimes are a bit tricky to find because they spawn only in swamps, mangrove swamps, and sometimes deep underground cave chunks under Y=40. When you find a slime and try to kill it with weapons, it will break into tiny slimes. After defeating the small slimes, they will drop 1 or 2 slimeballs each.

After getting all the items, make a crafting table with wooden planks, or head to your nearest crafting table to create a lead. In a crafting table, put two strings in the first two grids of the top row, then place one string at the bottom right. Place one slimeball in the center grid of the crafting table, and it will create two leads.

How to Use a Lead in Minecraft

Equip a lead from your inventory and approach a mob to use the lead on them. Right-click on the mob to attach it to them, and then you can begin moving, and the mobs will follow you around. You can press right-click again while holding the lead, and it will detach the lead from the mob.

You can also use a lead to tie mobs to a fence so that they stay in one place. You can tie your tamed horse or other mobs to keep them near your base. While you have a mob with a lead on, right-click on a fence, which will tie them to it.
