Deadlock has recently created some noise on the internet. What is the fuss all about? Let’s find out.
When Valve is working on something, it has to be special. Although the publisher tried to keep it a secret, the internet has opened up about Valve’s upcoming game called Deadlock. So, what is Deadlock? Here’s everything we know so far.
What is Deadlock?
Deadlock is reportedly Valve’s upcoming 6v6 hero-shooter title. According to Gabe Follower, the game is a mixture of Overwatch, VALORANT, TF2, Dota 2, Smite, and Orcs Must Die. However, there are some important factors. First of all, Deadlock is a third-person shooter. Secondly, unlike VALORANT or CS2, the game does not have bomb-defusal game mode. Instead, Deadlock has a tower defense mechanism similar to MOBA games. In the screenshot above, you can see there are 12 heroes in Deadlock. So, upon release, there should be more than 12 characters.
Deadlock’s Character and Map Design
The character designs are said to be inspired by the heroes from Dota 2 and have similar abilities as them. Gabe Follower also mentioned that the maps in Deadlock are “modern steampunk European city.” Also, the gameplay has a “fantasy setting mixed with steampunk. Magicians, weird creatures and robots. Fast travel using floating rails, similar to Bioshock Infinite.”
Who is Developing the Game?
Dota and Dota 2’s developer IceFrog is reportedly developing Deadlock under the radar.
When will it Release?
As of this writing, there is no ETA of Deadlock. Only a few screenshots and information have surfaced from various sources over the internet. However, based on the leaked screenshots, it looks like the developers have come a long way with the game, and it is currently being tested in a closed alpha.
