Obsidian Entertainment’s hit survival game Grounded has gone absolutely swole with the massive “Fully Yoked” 1.4 content update.
Grounded has come an incredibly long way since its Early Access days, and this send-off is an incredible flex showing just how far the tiny survival experience has grown. Grounded’s “Fully Yoked” update is absolutely loaded with fresh content across the board:
- Over 20 new weapons, armor, and equipment to craft
- Over 20 new trinkets to unearth, many exclusives to New Game+
- 3 new Baby Ant pet varieties to befriend
- A full Japanese voice-over track for all dialogue
- Huge optimization upgrades for better performance
And that’s just a tiny sample! With the 1.4 patch, Grounded is finally launching on new platforms like PlayStation and Nintendo Switch with full crossplay support! As the developers put it, this is the “final planned content update,” but they’ll keep refining and perfecting the full experience.

“Fully Yoked” 1.4 update
Here’s all the new content you can expect:
Ant Queens
The three ant colonies each now have a royal Ant Queen leader residing deep within their hills. These queens are not standard boss fights, but instead present players with a pivotal choice:
- Befriend the queen by offering her a tasty tribute
- Betray the queen, though the consequences are severe
- A mysterious third option that remains [REDACTED]
How you approach each queen shapes your relationship with that ant colony going forward, with lasting impacts.
The Backyard, Remixed (New Game+)
The headliner of Fully Yoked is the addition of a New Game+ mode that completely remixes the backyard experience. After defeating the Broodmother, Mantis, Wasp Queen, and Javamatic, players can enter this alternate dimension via the REMIX.R device.
New Game+ carries over all existing bases, equipment, and unlocked recipes. However, it then reshuffles the yard in many ways:
Infused Creatures
- Enemies can be “infused” with Raw Science
- Infused bugs have more health, damage, attack speed
- They also gain unique new properties that ramp up the challenge
New Trinkets
- Infused creatures drop powerful new trinkets, also infused with Raw Science
- Trinket properties are randomized for added variety
- Ominent Badges and BURG.L Chips can be re-earned with new properties
Yoking Station
- Upgrade weapons beyond +5 at this new workstation
- But it requires finding rare new remix-exclusive resources
More Molars
- Molars respawn in new, randomized locations
- You’ll need to keep collecting them to “stay swole”
New Science Shop Offerings
- Large expansion to the Science Shop inventory
- New sign set, Yoking Station, weapons, and equipment
- But only available in remixed yards
- Plus more Raw Science spawns and higher MIX.R rewards to afford it all
Other Surprises
- More loot chests, different candy varieties
- And other unspecified remixed changes await
New Platforms & Crossplay
The Fully Yoked update simultaneously launched Grounded on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch for the first time. Players on all platforms can experience the 1.4 content together via full crossplay support.
Additional New Features
- “Bugs Fight Each Other” option to toggle creature combat
- New Playground link color options for editing
- Multiplayer session save loading
- Recover Pets button to find lost companions

Plus a ton of new content:
