MSI 2024 has concluded as Gen.G have finally won an International Trophy after failing so many times.

Gen.G has been one of the favourites to win international tournaments for the past few years. However, they have always come short of winning and failing to perform well. This has been a thorn in Gen.G’s side for so long.

To change things, they changed their roster to add Canyon, Kiin, and Lehends to the rest alongside Chovy and Peyz. That led them to win LCK for the fourth time in a row and then come to MSI 2024 as one of the favourites. All the struggles have finally culminated in Gen.G winning their first international trophy.

Gen.G MSI 2024 Champions

After a 3-1 win over BLG, Gen.G wins MSI 2024. Throughout the tournament, they have been excellent with great performances all across the board. Chovy and Canyon were the highlights of the tournament, while Lehends won MSI 2024 Finals MVP.

The tournament has been great for Gen.G as they brought out unique picks, excellent gameplay, and solid plans to beat their opponents from LCK, LPL and other regions alike. This has truly been an excellent run for Gen.G this year so far.

Gen.G now marches on for the Golden Road as there are two more trophies up for grabs (LCK Summer and Worlds 2024). With high anticipation, as Gen.G has already qualified for Worlds 2024 (after winning today), fans will be looking at them. This may be the start of a dynasty, as Chovy has finally broken the curse of not performing Internationally.

With MSI 2024 done and dusted, we now take a little break until all the leagues kick off and converge for Worlds 2024 a few months down the line.

Respawn secretly hosted the ALGS Regional Finals following last week’s massive tournament hack.

TSM’s Phillip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen posted on social media that TSM has won the ALGS North American Regional Final, confirming that the tournament was hosted in secret. ImperialHal posted the tournament results on Twitter, posted the tournament video from his perspective on YouTube, and later hosted a watch party explaining the tournament on his stream.

Last week, two top Apex Legends professional players, Phillip’ ImperialHal’ Dosen and Noyan’ Genburten’ Ozkose were hacked during the ALGS tournament. The hacker enabled aimbot and wall hacks on both players’ systems, causing Respawn to cancel the tournament. One of the hackers, named Destroyer2009, later revealed that he hacked the players just for fun.

After the fourth game, TSM won the match with a massive 12-kill game on Storm Point. They won the tournament in just three games, taking the total number of games played to seven. Legacy created a lot of pressure on TSM, as they also looked settled after the restart. With only one game played on Match Point, Legacy was the only team in the tournament to win more than one match.

Respawn announced that it postponed the tournament and will be hosting it later. However, the creators of Apex Legends decided to finish the tournament secretly and without a live stream. Some players from the Apex Legends community noticed that the participating players in the tournament were not streaming on March 25, and many professional players were playing in custom lobbies.

ALGS Regional Finals Standings (NA)

  • TSM – 80 (Match Point Winners)
  • Legacy – 72
  • Moist – 59
  • SSG – 56
  • E8 – 51
  • DarkZero – 49
  • Disguised – 41
  • OpTic – 40
  • Luminosity – 38
  • N8V – 38

The tournament was recorded and was later broadcast on March 26, at 5 PM PT on the PlayApex channel on Twitch.

Ubisoft has announced that Jynxzi and Shroud will be co-streaming the upcoming Six Invitational 2024 Finals live on their respective channels.

Ubisoft and BLAST are investing heavily in the Six Invitational 2024 Finals weekend, as they are bringing two of the biggest Twitch streamers, Jynxzi and Shroud, to co-stream the SI Finals weekend.

The group stage of the Six Invitational 2024 has successfully concluded, and fans are eagerly waiting to see their favorite players live on stage.

Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek doesn’t need any introduction, as he is one of the most popular gamers on the internet. With over 10 million followers on Twitch alone, his stream will bring a large audience to the Rainbow Six Esports world.

However, this isn’t the first time Shroud has collaborated with Siege. Back in 2019’s Raleigh Major, Shroud even played on stage in the Creator’s Cup match.

On the other hand, Jynxzi is the newest kid in town, who has surprised the streaming community with his energy and entertainment value. He has over 4.5 million followers and 100,000 active subscribers.

Jynxzi’s main game is also Rainbow Six Siege, so it was a natural step for Ubisoft to bring him over to the esports side.

Recently, Jynxzi won the award for ‘Gamer of the Year’ and ‘Breakthrough Streamer of the Year’ by the Streamer Awards. His rise to the top has been noticed by not only Ubisoft but a huge community, as he garners over 200,000 viewers in his streams often.

Catch all the esports action LIVE and also the season reveal of Operation Deadly Omen on Feb 24 at 9:30AM PT / 6:30PM CET at http://twitch.tv/Rainbow6 or right alongside Shroud and Jynxzi.

Ukrainian and Arsenal football player Oleksandr Zinchenko subbed in for a player for his esports team, Passion UA.

Arsenal Football Club and Ukrainian star Oleksandr Zinchenko made an unusual cameo for his esports team, Passion UA, in a professional Counter-Strike match earlier today. The Arsenal left-back substituted for a player and took a map off against BLEED Esports in the YaLLa Compass Spring 2024.

Passion UA is a Ukrainian esports organization founded by Zinchenko and the former coach of NaVi and CSGO professional Mykhailo ‘Kane’ Blahin in 2023. The esports team primarily focuses on their Counter-Strike team. Zinchenko will be the primary sponsor for Passion UA; meanwhile, Kane will take on the role of Coach for the CS team.

Many professional football players have invested in Counter-Strike teams and even founded esports organizations. For example, former Manchester City and Argentina football superstar Sergio Aguero founded KRU Esports in 2020. Afterward, Lionel Messi joined KRU Esports as a co-owner at the end of 2023. But Oleksandr Zinchenko is the first footballer to enter a professional match in any esports event.

Zinchenko Steps In For His Team

In the Compass Spring 2024 Contenders Stage, Passion UA went up against BLEED Esports on February 8, 2024. Passion UA lost the first map in Inferno with a final score of 8-13 against BLEED. However, after the player faced some connection issues, Zinchenko subbed in for Eduard’ zeRRoFIX’ Petrovskyi in the second map, Ancient.

Zinchenko and the rest of the team won the map with a final score of 16-12, with the owner putting up decent statistics in the match. However, Passion UA lost the last map in Anubis with a final score of 11-13 and lost the match 2-1 against the tournament leader, BLEED. Even though Passion UA lost the match, Zinchenko performed well for his team.

This is not the first time Zinchenko participated in a professional match for his team. In December 2023, Zinchenko subbed in for zeRRoFiX, who could not participate in another tournament due to network issues against Illyrians. Zinchenko made his professional Counter-Strike debut against Illyrians and eventually won the match.

In 2023, Oleksandr Zinchenko participated in a charity match to raise funds for the war-affected people in Ukraine. In the event, Zinchenko played alongside legendary Counter-Strike players such as Ioann “Edward” Sukhariev and Yegor “markeloff” Markelov. The football star founded and invested in Passion UA because of his deep love for gaming and desire to contribute to the growth of esports in Ukraine.

With the conclusion of week 2 of the LEC 2024 winter split, here’s the result and a quick breakdown.

LEC 2024 is the first proper tournament of the year, and the Winter split is the first split of the second year of the newly merged EMEA’s rebranded professional League of Legends league.

The League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) is a major League of Legends tournament that happens primarily between EMEA-based teams. The top teams in these events can compete in the MSI or Worlds, depending on the time frame.

Another reason why LEC 2024 is a very special tournament is because we will see the new season 14 map and items in action. To recap, Riot completely overhauled Summoner’s Rift in Patch 14.1. Additionally, they have also reworked many of the core items in the game. This is the first tournament that is being held after the new changes and additions.

With the conclusion of week 1 of the LEC 2024 winter split, here’s the result and a quick breakdown.

With the start of a new year, we have finally got to experience the first pro game of the season, the LEC 2024 winter split.

The League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) is a major League of Legends tournament that happens primarily between EMEA-based teams. The top teams in these events can compete in the MSI or Worlds, depending on the time frame.

The LEC 2024 winter split is a special tournament. The main reason for that is that this is the first major tournament where players can witness the changes of the new season, like new items and the new map.

With that said, here are the biggest winners and losers of week 1 of the LEC 2024 winter split.

Read more: League of Legends Patch 14.2 Notes.

LEC 2024 Winter Split: Week 1

All Of The Teams In LEC 2024 Winter Split

Before we get into the winners and losers, first, let’s look at all of the teams participating in this event.

  • Fnatic
  • G2 Esports
  • SK Gaming
  • GIANTX
  • Karmine Corp
  • Mad Lions
  • Rogue
  • Team BDS
  • Team Heretics
  • Team Vitality

Biggest Winners

SK Gaming

SK Gaming is by far the biggest winner in this first week. But before talking about their performance, it would be best if we talked about their roster first.

Currently, Irrelevant is the top laner, Isma is the jungle, Nisqy is the mid-laner, Exakick is the ADC, and Doss is the support. Additionally, Bertho is the substitute support on their team.

Their first match was in the second game of day 1, and it was against Rogue. Although the early game was stale, around the first baron spawn, SK Gaming was able to snowball the game to victory.

Their second match was in game 2 on day 2. Additionally, they were up against MAD Lions. Fans were looking forward to this match as Nisqy was formally part of MAD Lions in the previous year. But they had an overall lackluster performance in the previous LEC and Worlds.

Even though Eloyaya, MAD Lions’ jungler, picked Xin Zhao, who can actually abuse all of the new bruiser items, SK Gaming won against them very easily. Moreover, Nisqy earned the MVP title in that match.

Probably the best match we have gotten this entire week was on day 3, game 5, and that match was between SK Gaming and Fnatic. In this match, Irrelevant showed how busted Jax can be in the meta. Moreover, SK Gaming also reigned victorious against Fnatic, thus concluding their first week.

Biggest Losers

Karmine Corp

This week, there are not one but two subpar-performing teams. One of them is Karmine Corp.

Similar to SK, let’s check out KC’s roster first. Their top laner is Cabochard, their jungler is Bo, their mid-laner is SAKEN, their ADC is Upset, and their support is Targamas.

Karmine Corp is not a bad team by any means. But in their first match, they faced the goliath known as Fnatic. Although they had a decent lead in the early game, in the end, they lost.

Then, on day 2, they faced off against another strong team, G2 Esports. However, this match was more closer than the previous match. But in the final team fight, G2 won, which got them an easy way to KC’s base. Therefore, G2 won the game.

In their last match of the week, they fought against MAD Lions. And this was definitely the closest game by far. In the early game, KC easily punished every mistake that the MAD Lions made. However, in the end, Supa, MAD Lions’ ADC, got a pentakill, which completely reduced the chance for Karmine Corp to make a comeback in the match. Thus, they also lost this match as well.

Team Vitality

The second worst-performing team this week was Team Vitality. Arguably, Team Vitality performed far worse than Karmine Corp.

Let’s check out their roster first. Photon is Vitality’s top laner, Daglas is their jungler, Vetheo is their mid-laner, Carzzy is their ADC, and Hylissang is the support.

The first match they played was against GIANTX. Even though there were blunders in the early game, GIANTX easily snowballed the game to victory.

On day 2, they faced off against Fnatic. And fans immediately knew who would win. Vitality is not strong of a team where they can easily beat most of the team at LEC. With that said, Fnatic won against Team Vitality.

And in the final day, Team Vitality faced off against Team BDS. Team BDS was more or less the favorite since Adam’s weird GODS strategy in last year’s Worlds. This was Team Vitality’s best match; however, saying that doesn’t mean much. Though Team Vitality tried their hardest, they ultimately lost against Team BDS, thus going 0-3 in the first week.

Besides these teams, many teams went 2-1 or 1-2 in the first week. The teams who went 2-1 are,

  • Fnatic
  • Team BDS
  • Team Heretics
  • G2 Esports
  • MAD Lions

And only two teams went 1-2. They are,

  • GIANTX
  • Rogue

And it’s just the first week. We can expect the next week to have even more chaotic matches than before.

Riot Games is bringing major changes to MSI and World for the 2024 season. Here is everything you need to know about the changes in the upcoming season of LoL esports.

Game publisher Riot Games has announced major changes to the League of Legends esports system for the 2024 season. Mainly focusing on next year’s Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) changes with competitive changes and event updates.

Last year at MSI 2023, JD Gaming dominated the tournament, facing Bilibili Gaming in the Finals, and won with a 3-1 scoreline. They were also the favorites to win the Worlds; however, T1 defied all odds and defeated JDG in the Semifinals. T1 won the Worlds championship for the fourth time after they defeated Weibo Gaming in the Grand Finals at the Gocheok Sky Dome in Seoul, Korea. Last year, both MSI and Worlds were dominated by the LPL region. Riot Games introduced the Swiss Stage at Worlds in the 2023 season, replacing the tournament’s Group Stage format.

Riot Games is bringing some major changes for MSI 2024, increasing its importance for the upcoming season. The changes will result in new ways to qualify for the Worlds and grant them additional slots for their region. Some recent seed changes have been made to all regions, which will revamp the competitive format, bringing more intense competition for the League of Legends fans.

Changes for MSI and Worlds 2024

MSI 2024 Changes

For the 2024 season, Riot Games revealed that they are making several changes to the format of the competition to create a stronger connection between MSI and Worlds. One of the biggest changes Riot is bringing for next season is that the team that wins the Mid-Season Invitational(MSI) title will also earn a guaranteed place for the Worlds 2024 championship.

In addition to securing a spot at the Worlds, the winning team at the MSI in 2024 will earn an extra slot for their region at the Worlds championship. The second-best performing region at MSI will also earn an extra seed for their region. Because of these massive seed changes, MSI will be more important than ever for every region trying to secure a place at the Worlds.

Worlds 2024 Changes

For the Worlds 2024, Riot Games has chosen to assign three slots to each of the four main regions: LCS(North America), LEC(EMEA), LCK(Korea), and LPL(China). Two slots each will go to PCS(Asia-Pacific) and VCS(Vietnam), and one slot each will go to LLA (Latin America) and CBLOL(Brazil). Riot Games has officially announced that League of Legends Japan League(LJL) will merge the PCS in 2024 and compete with other PCS teams to represent the larger region at international events.

As mentioned earlier, the results of MSI 2024 will have a major impact on the Worlds than previous years.

T1 winning Worlds 2023

The MSI 2024 winning team will secure an automatic spot at Worlds and an additional slot for their region. However, the direct Worlds qualification will only be valid if the team qualifies for the Summer Playoffs in their respective regional leagues.

To understand correctly, JD Gaming won the MSI 2023; therefore, they are automatically qualified for Worlds. JD Gaming has also secured a total of four slots for the Worlds from the LPL region. In addition, the second-best performing team from the LCK region will also guarantee an additional Worlds seed for four slots for the region.

Riot Games has issued an official statement, “With these changes, we will introduce new ways for teams and regions to show their strength and earn additional Worlds slots through their performance at MSI.”

MSI and Worlds 2024 Locations

MSI 2024 will take place in Chengdu, China, and it will be the first time Riot Games is bringing a global League of Legends esports event to the city. Chengdu has recently hosted several major esports events in 2023, including Crossfire Stars 2023 and Naraka Bladepoint World Championship.

Riot Games has previously announced that the Worlds 2024 Grand Finals will take place at the O2 Arena in London, UK. The other stages of the tournament will be hosted in different European cities, like Berlin and Paris. The play-ins and the Swiss stage will be held at the newly revamped Riot Games Arena in Berlin, Germany. The Quarter and Semifinals will take place at the Adidas Area in Paris, France.

Following T1’s victory at Worlds 2023, the players have announced which champion skins they want to see for the Team Skins.

The League of Legends Worlds 2023 has been a blast to watch. The tournament was filled with narratives, upsets, and, most important of all, exciting matches.

Starting off Worlds 2023 Play-Ins, we have the phenomenal performance by VCS second seed Team Whales. The team managed to beat both LEC’s fourth-seed BDS and the LJL’s first-seed DFM in the Play-Ins group stage. But they were ultimately knocked out by the VCS first seed GAM Esports. On the other side of the bracket, the PSG Talon, the favorites of the Play-Ins stage, had been knocked out by BDS. Resulting in both GAM and BDS qualifying for the Swiss Stage.

Swiss Stage was a new addition to this year’s Worlds. Due to the volatility of the format, we got some of the highest-stakes matches of any Worlds so far. We also got some big upsets as well.

The most promising western team, G2 Esports, was knocked out by the surprising resurgence of LCS and their first seed, NRG. All four LPL teams qualified for the Knockout stages for the first time in Worlds history. And KT was unlucky, as always.

The Knockout stage was filled with even more upsets. Surprisingly, the LCK’s first seed, Gen.G, was knocked out by the LPL’s second seed, BLG, in the Quarterfinals. T1 also had 3-0’ed one of LPL’s dark horses, LNG.

The Semifinals started with yet another surprise. The fourth seed of the LPL, Weibo Gaming, a team that underperformed all year, a team everyone doubted, rose to the occasion and beat BLG 3-2.

All the other LCK teams had been knocked out by the LPL teams. It was T1 vs LPL, and their next opponent was the tournament favorites, JD Gaming. But to everyone’s surprise, T1 dismantled JDG in a 3-1 victory. All that remains in T1’s way is Weibo Gaming in the finals.

The finals seemed like it was going to be another underdog story. It felt like Weibo Gaming would pull another miracle, Similar to DRX. But T1 demolished Weibo Gaming’s dream in quick 3-0 fashion, leading to their fourth Worlds title.

Hence, we come to the 2023 Worlds skins. The five T1 players will get to pick a champion to get a Worlds 2023 skin. Here is what the players are planning to select.

Worlds 2023 T1 Skins

So, in order to pick a champion for a Worlds skin, there is a condition that needs to be fulfilled. Only one of three conditions must be met to be eligible for a World Skin. The requirements are as follows:

  1. Participate in at least 2 play-in stage games that impacted the team’s advancement to the knockout game (i.e., those games had to matter for seeding or advancement).
  2. Participate in at least 2 group stage games that impacted the team’s advancement to the knockout game (i.e., those games had to matter for seeding or advancement).
  3. Participate in at least 1 knockout stage game (Quarters, Semis, or Finals).

With that said, here are the skins that T1 players revealed at the press conference.

  • Zeus (Top): Yone or Jayce
  • Oner (Jungle): Lee Sin
  • Faker (Mid): Ahri
  • Gumayusi (ADC): Jinx
  • Keria (Support): Bard or Renata

Zeus seems to be getting either a Yone or Jayce skin. But a Yone skin seems to be most likely, judging by how important his Yone pick was in the tournament. Oner has been wanting a Lee Sin for a while, so he is getting a Lee Sin skin.

Faker didn’t exactly say what champion he was going to pick, but he hinted at the fact that it might be Ahri. Gumayusi is getting Jinx. Keria wanted to pick Lux, but he didn’t play Lux in the tournament, so he couldn’t choose Lux. So he is getting either a Bard or Renata skin.

With the Semifinals out of the way, here is a preview of the Worlds 2023 Finals matchups.

The League of Legends Worlds 2023 Finals has arrived. After a year of grueling hard work, after taking on the best teams from around the world, it all comes to this: the Summoners Cup. The two remaining teams, T1 and Weibo Gaming will go head-to-head at Seoul’s Gocheok Sky Dome for the final showdown. Only one team will take the crown, and one goes home empty-handed.

Will Faker and T1 be able to take home another title, or will Weibo Gaming create a miracle? Let’s find out.

Worlds 2023 Grand Finals

T1 and Weibo Gaming both had a rough start to Worlds 2023. Weibo Gaming had lost to both G2 Esports and KT Rolster in the Swiss Stage, leading to them barely making it to the Knockout stage with a 3-2 score. But they picked up the pace in the Knockout Stage. Weibo Gaming defeated the LCS representative NRG in a dominating 3-0 fashion in the Quarterfinals and BLG 3-2 in a close Semifinals.

While T1’s run was a little less bumpy comparatively, they also had lost pretty hard to Gen.G. However, the loss to Gen.G might have woken something inside of them. After that, T1 has not lost a series. They made it to the Knockout Stage in a 3-1 fashion after beating Cloud9, TL, and BLG. Their Knockout Stage run was even better. T1 beat both LPL’s powerhouses, LNG and JDG in a pretty convincing fashion.

With that said, let us move on to the rundown of the Worlds 2023 Finals matchup.

T1 vs Weibo Gaming

On the top side of the map, we have the 2018 World Champion, TheShy, going up against the young T1 Top Laner Zeus. Both these Top Laners are similar in terms of skill level, and they both have a vast champion pool. Overall, Top Lane looks to be a stalemate.

Draft is going to be a big factor when it comes to Jungle this series. Since both Oner and Weiwei have a very similar champ pool, the champions they get are going to be the deciding factor. That said, denying Oner Rell needs to be a big priority for Weibo Gaming, as Oner looked monstrous on his Rell.

Mid-lane is looking to be yet another stalemate, it seems. Both Faker and Xiaohu are excellent Control-Mage players, but whoever performs the best should control the Mid-Lane.

Bot Lane is where things get interesting. Both the 2022 Worlds and this year’s Worlds have been dictated largely by Bot Lanes. Whichever team has the best Bot Lane usually comes out on top.

In terms of the bot lane of these two teams, the T1 bot seems clearly the favorite. Gumayusi and Keria have been dominating almost every bot lane. They can play almost every champion and every style, making them very hard to beat.

Light and Crisp aren’t to be underestimated, as they have clearly shown their ability to adapt in that WBG vs BLG series. They can play both engage and push bot lanes to counter T1’s aggression.

That said, Both T1 and Weibo Gaming have their strength and weaknesses. However, factoring in all the variables, the matchup is slightly T1 favored. So we can expect a 3-2 victory for the Korean representative T1.
