With the conclusion of week 1 of the LEC 2024 winter split, here’s the result and a quick breakdown.
With the start of a new year, we have finally got to experience the first pro game of the season, the LEC 2024 winter split.
The League of Legends EMEA Championship (LEC) is a major League of Legends tournament that happens primarily between EMEA-based teams. The top teams in these events can compete in the MSI or Worlds, depending on the time frame.
The LEC 2024 winter split is a special tournament. The main reason for that is that this is the first major tournament where players can witness the changes of the new season, like new items and the new map.
With that said, here are the biggest winners and losers of week 1 of the LEC 2024 winter split.

LEC 2024 Winter Split: Week 1
All Of The Teams In LEC 2024 Winter Split
Before we get into the winners and losers, first, let’s look at all of the teams participating in this event.
- Fnatic
- G2 Esports
- SK Gaming
- GIANTX
- Karmine Corp
- Mad Lions
- Rogue
- Team BDS
- Team Heretics
- Team Vitality
Biggest Winners
SK Gaming
SK Gaming is by far the biggest winner in this first week. But before talking about their performance, it would be best if we talked about their roster first.
Currently, Irrelevant is the top laner, Isma is the jungle, Nisqy is the mid-laner, Exakick is the ADC, and Doss is the support. Additionally, Bertho is the substitute support on their team.
Their first match was in the second game of day 1, and it was against Rogue. Although the early game was stale, around the first baron spawn, SK Gaming was able to snowball the game to victory.
Their second match was in game 2 on day 2. Additionally, they were up against MAD Lions. Fans were looking forward to this match as Nisqy was formally part of MAD Lions in the previous year. But they had an overall lackluster performance in the previous LEC and Worlds.
Even though Eloyaya, MAD Lions’ jungler, picked Xin Zhao, who can actually abuse all of the new bruiser items, SK Gaming won against them very easily. Moreover, Nisqy earned the MVP title in that match.
Probably the best match we have gotten this entire week was on day 3, game 5, and that match was between SK Gaming and Fnatic. In this match, Irrelevant showed how busted Jax can be in the meta. Moreover, SK Gaming also reigned victorious against Fnatic, thus concluding their first week.
Biggest Losers
Karmine Corp
This week, there are not one but two subpar-performing teams. One of them is Karmine Corp.
Similar to SK, let’s check out KC’s roster first. Their top laner is Cabochard, their jungler is Bo, their mid-laner is SAKEN, their ADC is Upset, and their support is Targamas.
Karmine Corp is not a bad team by any means. But in their first match, they faced the goliath known as Fnatic. Although they had a decent lead in the early game, in the end, they lost.
Then, on day 2, they faced off against another strong team, G2 Esports. However, this match was more closer than the previous match. But in the final team fight, G2 won, which got them an easy way to KC’s base. Therefore, G2 won the game.
In their last match of the week, they fought against MAD Lions. And this was definitely the closest game by far. In the early game, KC easily punished every mistake that the MAD Lions made. However, in the end, Supa, MAD Lions’ ADC, got a pentakill, which completely reduced the chance for Karmine Corp to make a comeback in the match. Thus, they also lost this match as well.
Team Vitality
The second worst-performing team this week was Team Vitality. Arguably, Team Vitality performed far worse than Karmine Corp.
Let’s check out their roster first. Photon is Vitality’s top laner, Daglas is their jungler, Vetheo is their mid-laner, Carzzy is their ADC, and Hylissang is the support.
The first match they played was against GIANTX. Even though there were blunders in the early game, GIANTX easily snowballed the game to victory.
On day 2, they faced off against Fnatic. And fans immediately knew who would win. Vitality is not strong of a team where they can easily beat most of the team at LEC. With that said, Fnatic won against Team Vitality.
And in the final day, Team Vitality faced off against Team BDS. Team BDS was more or less the favorite since Adam’s weird GODS strategy in last year’s Worlds. This was Team Vitality’s best match; however, saying that doesn’t mean much. Though Team Vitality tried their hardest, they ultimately lost against Team BDS, thus going 0-3 in the first week.
LEC 2024 Winter Split Week 1 Standing
Besides these teams, many teams went 2-1 or 1-2 in the first week. The teams who went 2-1 are,
- Fnatic
- Team BDS
- Team Heretics
- G2 Esports
- MAD Lions
And only two teams went 1-2. They are,
- GIANTX
- Rogue
And it’s just the first week. We can expect the next week to have even more chaotic matches than before.
