Every shortcut you can use in Rocket Racing to shave time of your runs.

Rocket Racing is Fortnite’s newest game mode developed by Psyonix, the creators of Rocket League. Like Rocket League, Rocket Racing is a fast-paced, competitive game. Although, this one is centered around racing cars rather than using them to play a version of football.

You’ll require quick reflexes to avoid obstacles and make dangerous turns as you race rocket-powered cars around a variety of dynamic maps.

Furthermore this game mode has its own ranked system. Here, you’ll progress through various tiers while unlocking new maps and facing increasingly tougher opponents. To climb the ranks of Rocket Racing, you’ll need to learn its maps and the shortcuts within them.

Shortcuts can take various forms, such as hidden boost pads and alternatives, and can give you an edge over your opponents by significantly reducing the time taken to complete a lap.

Most lower-rank maps do not have any shortcuts, but as you progress, you will find increasingly elaborate shortcuts.

This guide lists every shortcut we’ve found in Fortnite Rocket Racing so far.

List of Shortcuts in Fortnite Rocket Racing

There are currently 9 shortcuts you can take when racing on the tracks of Fortnite Rocket Racing.

Early in a lap of lazy you’ll come across a forked path. The right path has boost pads that give you extra speed and also gives you an opportunity to boost jump around a corner.

As you come across this turn around the shanty town, jump and boost over the water.

Airborne 1

The first shortcut can be found early in the track, right after the hill. Stay in the left lane and jump as you reach the top of the slope:

Make sure you jump as you reach the top of the slope and with some thruster usage you’ll be able to reach the boosters to the left of the track

Next you’ll have the option to take a higher road instead of the regular path.

Take this path as it has speed boosts that the regular route doesn’t.

There are several speed boosters that are only on the top tracks of this map, so make sure you use you press Air Dodge while holding Up / Forward to always take advantage of the top tracks, especially during the tunnel section.

This track has two sets of boost pads very early. Jump right before the pillar, lightly use your thrusters, and then Air Dodge to drive on the left wall. Try to drive on every wall on this track, as they will have boost pads.

However, when you come across the forked path, make sure to go to the right as it has two speed boosts instead of one on the left path.

Festive Falls

The first shortcut in this track is through the waterfall. You can jump and use your thrusters to go through it. However, this route is situational and ineffective if you don’t have a turbo available.

Next, as you reach the tunnel section, jump and use your thrusters to reach the top of the tunnel. Alternatively, you can jump and dodge up inside the tunnel to attach yourself to the ceiling. Both these routes have speed boosts so it will come down to your preference.

Cliff Runner

This shortcut comes shortly after you spot the avocado shown in the screenshot above. and can be tricky to execute. Make sure you start drifting as you come up to the tight corner.

You’ll spot an opening through the rock ridge on your left on the next green circle. Use turbo to boost through it as it is a much narrower path than the regular one.

As the race begins, turn to the left as you cross the first green circle and use your thrusters to land on the hill.

Then, use your thrusters to glide over the lake and drive on the billboard below.

Fortnite’s latest chapter brings three fresh modes to the platform, all distinct from the typical battle royale setting that’s got the players hyped.

First is LEGO Fortnite, a survival crafting game reminiscent of Minecraft. Then, we go into music-themed mode with Fortnite Festival and Rocket Racing, a high-speed racing game crafted by the developers behind Rocket League.

In Rocket Racing, players can select their preferred vehicle style, engage in online races across numerous courses, and strive to win races to boost their seasonal ranking.

Although Rocket Racing is currently in season zero, I have a lot of anticipation for what is to come in season one in 2024. It looks very promising with the additional tracks, modes, and content.

Speed is the key in Rocket Racing, and if you want to rank up the leaderboard and reach higher ranks, then you will need to understand the key mechanics of the game. One of these key mechanics is the boost mechanic. In this guide, I will discuss how to boost start, so you can get ahead of the competition from the get-go.

How to Boost Start

To boost at the beginning of your race, you will have to be dexterous, as it involves pressing specific keys. You will have to do it by the countdown, which is followed by the appearance of four circles that progressively turn red from left to right.

The crucial moment occurs when the fourth circle transitions to green, signaling the race’s commencement. To achieve a starting boost, you need to hold down the accelerate button (right trigger) just before the fourth circle lights up. While mastering the timing may take a few attempts, practice will make it second nature.

You might not be able to succeed boost start on your first try. To achieve a 100% boost, start Securing the perfect 100% starting boost, which hinges on mastering your timing on the accelerate button.

Moreover, you will also get a boost percentage even if they come close (such as a 95% boost), but hitting 100% ensures the best chance of surging ahead of other cars, particularly at the race’s outset.

The high-speed tracks of Fortnite: Rocket Racing demands more than just acceleration; it calls for mastering the intricate art of drifting.

Read More: All Tracks You Can Race On In Fortnite: Rocket Racing

Not only does drifting add flair to your maneuvers, but it also serves as a tactical necessity when you are facing tight corners. It also helps you to gain bursts of speed and, most importantly, builds up your boost meter.

To help you with drifting in Fortnite: Rocket Racing, I have decided to create this guide where I will discuss how to drift in Rocket Racing effectively. So, let’s dive into the details, shall we?

How to Drift in Fortnite Rocket Racing

In the world of Rocket Racing, there are two distinct methods of drifting, each with its own nuances. The first is automatic drift, and the second is manual drift.

Automatic Drift

The automatic drift is as simple as holding the left or right button for an extended duration. If you are just starting with racing games, then this is the one you begin with for drifting.

Once the drift begins, you will have the flexibility to adjust the sharpness or shallowness of the drift. You will stop drifting, and your vehicle will straighten out.

While you are using automatic drift, keep a watchful eye on the purple boost meter to the left of your car. It fills up faster during any type of drift. The green bar beneath your vehicle gradually fills as you drift. It ensures a more substantial speed boost upon completing the drift, depending on its fullness.

Manual Drift

Now, if you are looking to get a bit more control, there’s the option of manually starting a drift. This action can be assigned to various keys, with default options like Square for PlayStation, X for Xbox, Y for Nintendo, or Shift for those using a keyboard.

If you intend to perform a manual drift, then you will want to start the maneuver sooner than you actually feel drifting in the screen. This technique proves particularly advantageous when anticipating a tight corner ahead.

Therefore, by starting your drift early, you can proactively align your vehicle with the upcoming direction. This is a strategic move that becomes increasingly crucial as you climb the ranks in Fortnite: Rocket Racing, especially on challenging maps with sharp turns like Sidewinder and Anaconda.

Want to ride as Jackie but don’t know how to unlock the Jackie Skin in Fortnite: Rocket Racing? – then this guide can help you!

Chapter 5 of Fortnite introduced us to three new game modes, and one of the most popular and exciting game modes is arguably Rocket Racing. Here, you will be able to compete with other players with the sole purpose of finishing first.

Read More: Every Quest You Can Complete in Fortnite Rocket Racing

The races are fast-paced and require strategies and a good understanding of the game mechanics. One of the biggest attractions in Rocket Racing is the drivers.

Yes, in this game, you can unlock character skins and then decide who will be controlling your vehicle. This skin mechanic comes directly from Fortnite, and like most other players, I am all in for them.

One of the most desired skins as your driver is the Jackie skin. It is a gold skin that players can unlock by completing certain prerequisites, with no microtransactions involved. To help you get this reward, in this guide, I will describe what you will need to do to unlock the Jackie skin. So, let’s get right into it!

How to Unlock Jackie’s Skin

Jackie Skin
Jackie Skin

Jackie, a female character skin who has blonde hair and pink tips, rocking a white racer jacket. She sort of resembles Gwen from Spiderverse, and maybe that’s an attraction that Epic was going for the character.

To unlock Jackie skin, you will need to complete the following:

  • Complete 10 races in Rocket Racing
  • Reach Gold Rank

Seems relatively easy, doesn’t it? Well, completing 10 races might be, but you will need to get into the grind if you really want to reach Gold rank. The competition is quite steep, and you will have to move over two ranks, bronze and silver, before you can get to the gold. By that time, you’ll already have completed 10+ races.

So, in reality, the main requirement to get Jacky Skin is to reach the Gold Rank.

On top of mastering the basic controls of your car, you will also need to have a good grasp of the game-specific mechanics of Rocket Racing. Of which, the most important one is your boost. Boosting at the start of the match (specifically when the fourth dot lights up) will give you a head start!

Drifting is also essential as you will get a much needed boost if you successfully drift a turn.

Jump boosts and flips are essential to navigate the race course and to avoid obstacles that can sabotage your whole run. So make sure to get used to the race course itself and also the flip and jump boost mechanics before heading on to the pitch.
