To celebrate major events of Overwatch League, new skins are added to the Overwatch League store. These skins are different from the rest of the Legendary and seasonal skins in Overwatch. The premium skins from the Overwatch League store need a different form of currency called Overwatch League tokens or OWL tokens. These need to be separately purchased at you need $9.99 to buy 200 tokes which is the set price for this new skin.

The new Legendary skin is called Happi Genji, which features the Ninja in more traditional clothing. Happis are traditional Japanese coats with tube sleeves, worn only during festivals. There is usually a large design on the back of the coat, typically the name of the festival or the association participating; kanji may also appear on the lapels.

The skin features Genji wearing the traditional Happi and shorts. He has arm and shin guards on his right arm and legs. He also has what appears to be goldfish in a pouch full of water tied to his waist. Genji has a small mask on the side of his head resembling his Sentai skin.

Overwatch 2 has been long since in development and aims to resurrect the once-thriving player base of the original game. The new game brings out huge balance changes along with tweaks to the base game to fix the resounding issues of Overwatch 1. The game was announced in Blizzcon on November 1, 2019, but there were no major updates on the progress for more than two years. Finally, on April of 2022 the first PVP beta of Overwatch 2 rolled out and the second beta rolls out today.

As we have covered in a previous article, there has been more content announced along with the beta. But to summarize, the 28th hero Junker Queen is being added to the game along with a new map: Paraiso which is going to be a hybrid map.

How to download and play Overwatch 2 Beta

To get access to the Overwatch 2 Beta you need to opt in from their website. Those who have opted in will receive an email confirmation notifying them that they have been granted access to the Overwatch 2 beta. If you did not get the chance in the PvP beta back in April, do not worry as Blizzard confirmed that even more players will get to play the beta this time around as server stability and capacities increase.

So if you have been one of the lucky ones to be selected, here is how you can download and play it for free:

• Open up the Battle.net client
• Log in to your account
• From the top bar, navigate to Overwatch
• From there, click the drop-down under “Game Version”
• Select Overwatch 2 Tech Beta if you see it and download
• Once the download is complete, hit the big Play button under it to launch the game

Blizzard has announced the Beta will begin on June 28th, and more players will get the chance to experience it this time around as server capacities are increased.

Overwatch 2 Beta Start date, time, and platforms

Date: It has been confirmed by Blizzard that the Overwatch 2 Beta will go live on June 28th.

Time: The Overwatch 2 Beta starts will be accessible from 5:00 PM UTC. This means 10:00 AM PT or 2:00 AM KST on the following day.

Region: Overwatch 2 Beta will release in all regions except Russia, China, and Belarus. Unlike the PvP beta, which was available across all regions.

Platform: The game is set to be released on PC, Xbox series S/X, PS4, XBOX One, and PS5.

New Hero and Map

With the news of the Overwatch 2 Beta, Blizzard also revealed the addition of a new hero, Junker Queen. She was teased for a long time, with speculations beginning back in August 2017 when the Junkertown map was added to the game.

“Only place for omnics in Junkertown is on the scrap heap. Consider yourself warned.” – Junker Queen.

From what we know about the story so far, the Queen was initially a fighter in Junkertown who proved herself by becoming the champion in combat. After being recognized as the Queen, she ruled over Junkertown with an Iron fist. Junkrat and Roadhog were her subjects, but they were exiled after they had stolen her gold, causing her a heap of trouble. Wrecking Ball is also mentioned as the new champion of Junkertown.

The new hero will be a tank which will have an aggressive playstyle. Her primary weapon is a shotgun, and her secondary is a small blade. She is also equipped with a large axe that she uses with her ultimate.

Her melee attack uses her blade to inflict a wound that denies the enemy healing. Her alternate ability launches the blade as a projectile, pulling the enemy slightly towards you while wounding them. This can be a good combo as you pull the enemies into the range of your shotgun. Her ultimate ability pulls out her Axe, and she rushes forward, dealing AOE damage which also wounds enemies.

The new map will be Paraíso and will be on the hybrid game mode. It is based in Brazil.

Blizzard Entertainment had a pretty huge success with Overwatch. The game was released on May 24, 2016, and since then this vibrant team-based hero shooter game has built a massive player base throughout the world. And it seems like Blizzard is not done with Overwatch just yet.

Blizzard made the announcement of Overwatch 2’s development at BlizzCon in 2019. Since then there has been much speculation about its actual release date and Overwatch fans have been waiting for some updates about its progress. And, it seems like the wait is coming to an end.

Overwatch 2 is starting its PVP beta on April 26, 2022, at 11 am PT, and selected players will begin to receive invites to join the PvP Beta throughout the day. Blizzard will begin rolling out beta access to selected participants. While players selected initially will all receive access on the first day, Blizzard may extend invitations to more players at later periods in this test.

How to get access to Overwatch 2 Beta key

Players who had registered for the Overwatch 2 PvP beta earlier will get initial access to the Overwatch 2 beta key and only limited players will get invitations directly from Blizzard starting from April 26, 2022, at 11 am PT.

However, those who might not get the invite or have missed the registration for the Overwatch 2 beta access earlier still have a chance to get the beta key through Blizzard’s Twitch Drop program. Many popular streamers like xQc, Pokimane, Seagull, and more will participate in the Overwatch 2 PvP Twitch Drop program.

This limited-time campaign will begin on April 27, 2022, at 10:00 am PT and will last until 6:00 pm PT. Viewers can tune in to any of the mentioned Twitch streams in that time frame and watch for 4 hours to get an Overwatch 2 beta key. Viewers need to make sure that their Twitch is connected with the Blizzard account, and they will be guaranteed a drop.

Viewers also don’t need to watch a single streamer in one go. Instead, they can switch between the mentioned streamers who are participating in the PvP beta. Also, viewers don’t have to watch streams for 4 hours straight. They can take breaks in between the streams and continue watching later. However, they still need to complete 4 hours between the 10:00 am to 6:00 pm time window.

The beta will be available to North America, Europe, Latin America/Brazil, Korea, Japan, Australia/New Zealand, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. The Overwatch 2 PvP Beta will begin April 26th at 11 am PT and is scheduled to run through May 17th (date subject to change based on testing needs).
