With Wild Rift’s new patch, Riot has provided some new updates about the lore and the storytelling in the game.
Last year, we got a lot of new content in Wild Rift. These include new champions, rune systems, game modes, pet systems, cosmetics, etc. Compared to prior years, 2023 was by far the most significant year when it came to gameplay.
Besides gameplay, the lore side of League of Legends is as extensive as ever. There are people who extensively follow the Runeterra lore and universe without playing any of the games.
Typically, these lore contents either come in League of Legends or Legends of Runeterra. But in recent years. We have seen some lore-related content in Wild Rift. However, these lore-related contents were very inconsistent from game to game. For example, in the Ruination event on PC, we got a visual novel. In Wild Rift, on the other hand, we can still talk to various champions about the event. However, they would just talk about what happened during the event instead of experiencing it.
Similarly, other significant events are only provided with missions and less proper storytelling. But this year, Riot has mentioned in a dev log that they will have one proper continuity for Runeterra. And to continue this tradition, there will be more updates coming for Wild Rift.

League of Legends Wild Rift: Lore Update
This Wild Rift dev log was presented by Riot Meddler, head of League Studios. One of the first things he mentioned was that the League of Legends universe will follow one shared canon. This should help players become familiar with the universe easily.
As stated before, Wild Rift’s past storytelling events have been very inconsistent. And Riot has addressed this issue. He has mentioned that the upcoming events in Wild Rift will follow the same story and themes as the rest of the League of Legends-related games.
Then he mentioned that the Wild Rift team is now looking forward to revisiting some old stories and expanding on them where necessary.
Afterward, he talks about the upcoming Arcane season 2. We have already talked about that in detail. But the important part is that we are getting an Arcane-related character in League of Legends. And that character is Ambessa Medarda. Even though we already know about it, the new information is that she is confirmed to be coming out in Wild Rift as well. However, no specific release date is given. Riot Meddler has confirmed that we are getting an Arcane-focused Wild Rift patch at the end of the year. This will contain a lot of Arcane-focused content. So we might see Ambessa Medarda released at that time.
The last information we got is that there will be fewer region-specific events and more global events that everyone can enjoy. With that, everyone can enjoy the same content.
With that said, this year is expected to be a massive year for Wild Rift, and we are all here for it.
